any new izakaya opened lately in Vancouver Downtown ? Haven't been to downtown for a while, would like to eat izakaya food, beside GUU garlic and Hapa 外, any new izakaya restaurant open lately in Downtown Vancouver ? Please kindly advise, so I can check it out this weekend. Many thanks in advance. |
I haven't been downtown in a year. Looking forward to some yum good replies. I miss eating the gyozas at gyoza king... Posted via RS Mobile |
I went to Guu Garden on Wed. I was happy with the food. My friend (a girl) thought it was really cool when she ordered her drink - you can mix and match your own drink - she ordered Cassis Liqueur, with Ramone and Fresh Grapefruit juice. They literally gave us a grapefruit cut in half, with a juicer - so you make your own drink. that and the food was pretty good - pretty standard Guu food. |
Goto Kingyo. Kingyo > *. Apparently the owner of Kingyo opened a new Izakaya on W. Broadway across from the Fir Earls called Suika if you don't mind going outside DT. Some good reviews so far.. |
Iv heard good things about Yuji Japanese restaurant.. not in downtown though.. (its also one of the restaurants listed in the 100Places to eat in Vancouver travellers deck from chapters) But if you really want to stick to downtown.. Zakkushi is pretty good. |
Zakkushi ftw Posted via RS Mobile |
I think the OP was looking for a new place to try out. All the places everyone has suggested has been lingering around for years :lol If so then Ebisu is brand spanking new! Our 4 year anniversery was just yesterday! |
I second Kingyo and Suika, both fantastic places from my experiences there! |
^ But never a Triangle Cafe experience. :( |

Well it's not new, but Happa has the newer location in Yaletown. Still haven't made my way over there, I assume the menu is the same as the Robson location. |
