New to kitchen stuff, please help
 
I am suing a MayTag Gas Stove with built in oven and the temperature start from 170 degree but I don't whether it is indicated as Degree C or Degree F ?

Please kindly help me out ASAP.

When we talk about ovens, people in north america use Fahrenheit.

So 350 is a good temp.
450, and you're really turning on the heat.
500 and you're intentionally charring stuff.

Different degrees are for different applications.
350 or less for delicate, slow roasting foods. (Prime rib roast, creme brulees, cheesecakes, etc.)
400-450 to get a nice browning to some already cooked foods, or to fully cook something but still leave it from being well done (ie. quail, frozen pizzas, pork chops, a smaller roast of prime rib and such.)
500 i have hardly ever used that high except for hand made pizza, and as cho mentioned, yorkshire pudding.

Is the 170 degrees on the dial for setting the temp or is that what it displays the oven to be at? If it's on the dial for setting the temp, then I'm almost certain that it's set in degrees celsius

worse case, call an appliance store like trail appliances in Richmond, they are helpful.
