Laptop ram question

So I'm using an Acer aspire 3820tg, has i5, 4g ram, ATI HD 5650 w/512 ram.

I'm pretty happy with the performance, but am wondering if there would be a huge performance increase going from 4g ram to 8g ram?

I'm looking for improvement all round, from opening files, browsing multiple websites, having multiple programs open and gaming.

Very unlikely.

Unless you know you're using specific programs that require huge amounts of memory.

Check your task manager or resource meters to see how much physical RAM you use.

I would suspect you're not using anywhere close to 4GB, in which case increasing it to 8GB would do nothing to improve performance.

2gb -> 4 gb huge difference

4gb -> 8gb not so much unless you have programs specifically this resource heavy.
