should i talk with the witness?

Long story short, car hit my car (slow speed), and i got a witness who was on scene. she was not that helpful, but still gave her # to me.

should i or can i text her to confirm what happened? Or am I not allowed to remind the witness of the accident?

thanks

don't need to call her back, just call ICBC tell them what happened and they will ask for your witness's number and ICBC will do the rest. Please correct if i'm wrong.

bcedhk 12-23-2010 06:26 PM

oh, i already gave icbc her number. is just that she seemed confused as to what happen, and i wanted to give her confirmation to see if she got the right picture (she though i was the driver in the front in the beginning)

thanks for the quick reply

geeknerd 12-23-2010 06:31 PM

she'll probably explain the situation by using the make/model/color of the car and not ur name anyways. i think itll be fine

ch1ck3nb0i 12-23-2010 06:33 PM

yeah give her a call and don't text, i think talking is far more efficient then texting at least you know if she sounds confused or knows what's going on.

MindBomber 12-23-2010 11:40 PM

I don't think your supposed to talk to the witnesses, I could be wrong, but when I reported an accident to ICBC they asked me if I'd spoken to the witness or other driver and said i was good that I hadn't.

what car and where?

I saw like 3 crashes happen infront of me today lols.

1990TSI 12-24-2010 12:08 AM

ask her out for a date. if you can bang her first night, you know it'll save you money in the ol' ICBC inquisition. If you fail to lay her her out ASAP, you will probably end up 100% at fault and have ur license taken away.

do you have low self esteem issues or can you pull off a berzerker-esque move on the broad?

if all alse fails, post her number here and we'll see how things go.

according to my knowledge, you're not suppose to call or talk to the witness. especially not in a way where you will confirm with her how the accident happened. she will say what she saw.

although this is a minor accident, if anything was brought to court and you are asked if you pursued the witness in anyway, it would look bad on your part.

optiblue 12-25-2010 01:18 PM

You're not allowed to talk to them, just let them say what they saw.

I thought this threat was about waitresses......

asian_XL 12-25-2010 02:23 PM

^ what threat lol

Gary Oak 12-25-2010 02:55 PM

its a thread and not about a waitress, unless the witness is a waitress

fliptuner 12-25-2010 03:12 PM

The witness is a waitress and you asked her out on a date?

Hope it works out dude.

Sandman 12-25-2010 03:23 PM

You banged a waitress in your car accidentally?

pawdregry4g 12-25-2010 03:31 PM

In that case calling her may be perceived as a threat

Jassanova 12-25-2010 04:04 PM

Don't listen to anyone who says you can't call a witness. By common-law principles, there is no property in a witness, they can talk to whoever they want, and can refuse to talk to whoever they want.

danizer 12-26-2010 01:40 AM

how did this thread become about a threatening waitress who you asked out on a date?

You have the right to know a witness's position before court, there is no reason to call a witness if he or she is not on your side to support ur statement. Of course you cannot threat a witness for what he really saw
