Diagnose a problem?

Drove my GF's camry today on the highway, it's an 05 V6 the previous gen

I'd say at above 70 whenever I touched the accelerator the engine sounded like a diesel, nothing serious no vibrations or anything and the sound is easily covered by the radio but it is noticeable under a slightly heavy acceleration.

Sorry like a diesel is the best I could come up with, it reminds me of the Mercedes CDI I've been driving lately on the highway, this car didn't sound like this before. I'm not sure if the sound is there at low speeds but for sure at highway speeds. I can't tell which side the sound comes from but it's definitely from the front.

Any ideas?

Closest thing that would make a gas engine sound like a diesel engine would be a knock. I say take it in to a mechanic and get them to do a test drive.

That's what my brother (mechanic) said when I asked him lol

What would cause it do you think? I googled it and a lot of 4 cyl camry have this problem. Could it be shitty gas? or time to do an oil change?

Is this something I should worry about? Thanks

Sounds like someone needs a tune-up.
