The Fighter I went to see The Fighter yesterday which I must say is the movie to watch this X-mas Holiday. No flashy special effect's just a feel good movie which is actually a true story. I have heard reviews that Christian Bales character is over acted since every scene he has to be the center of attention but after reading about them he was actually like that in real life as well and I think it's a perfectly played roll by Wahlberg. If I had sister's like that I would kill my self. |
thanks for review man, I will watch it definitely.... and fckin Christian Bale needs to stop massively losing weight for every other role, he's a good enough actor not to have to risk his life to play some random role alongside Mark Wahlberg.... his doctors told him he would suffer serious health repercussions if he ever did anything remotely close to what he did when he was in the Machinist. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_q514fFpQvP...-machinist.jpg |
If you enjoyed this movie and are a boxing fan, watch the Ward/Gatti trilogy of fights and you'll see how much heart this guy (and Gatti (RIP)) has in real life, in the ring. They literally beat the shit out of each other for 30 rounds and in between, have a mutual respect that is unseen in the sport today. One of the best rounds in boxing is the 9th round of their first fight. |
Yep Flip I watched the series of fights live and they were beyond epic. One of the best series boxing has ever had. The Machinist was a real extreme tho. This was not that bad and he really needed that playing the role of being a crack addict which is better to know before you see the movie since that will explain his actions. Right now I can't see anyone else taking the supporting actor and the Golden Globes. He play's these different sort of crazy as characters so well. |
if anything..it just shows that bale is dedicated to his performance & role i'm surprised aronofsky has two films out at the same time (this & black swan) edit: nm he only produced this ..wasn't the director |
Ya Bales performance was enhanced for me personally at the end when they showed the real character. Spot on method acting. |
thanks alot for the review, i've saw commercials on the fighter and it seemed really good and this just tops it ! I'll be watching it for sure wit my buddies ! thanks bro  |
hope Bale gets the best supporting actor for this role this movie is bare without him |
Hm...I was debating whether or not to watch it. I'll check it out, thanks murd0c  |
after reflecting this movie was probably even better than i thought after i first watched it and yea Bale played pretty much a perfect character, in the beggning when you see him it's hard to belive him to be that character, but shortly after you almost forget it's bale |

Loved this movie. |
bale plays the crackhead role so well |
wow... what the hell... Didn't even recognize that was Christian Bale... His weight change is unreal... I've only seen him in Batman... but looking at the screencaps of The Machinist and seeing this trailer, it's just shocking. |
I thought the movie was great. I'm sure all of you saw the golden globes and the mom and bale both won. Aside from being such a great movie and all, I thought the casting of the 8 sisters (one of them was Conan's sister) were just spot on. Hair styles, attitudes, waredrobe were just so true to the time period. I went in watching without knowing how it'll turn out and I'm glad they ended the movie really well. Mark ensure there were any crazy unrealistic boxing scenes (like Rocky) and that really did it for me. I don't need any last minute knock out punches so it was great to see this being true to the story. Mark was totally over shadowed by bale but damnn was he good. Did you also know the police officer was actually the trainer in real life who trained Mark and Micky? great film |
