Bluetooth In-Car Speaker

Since I don't like wearing bluetooth earpieces, I'm looking for an in-car bluetooth speaker that can sit mounted on the visor.

One important feature I'm looking for is called 'entry on'. Basically, I want the unit to automatically reconnect to my phone when I get inside the car, without having to push a button on the unit to turn it on or wake it up.
So far, I've only found one device that can do this: Motorola T325. Unfortuantely, the T325 has a few other known issues, and Motorola stopped producing it (I think Best Buy might still have some though).

Does anyone else know of an in-car bluetooth speaker phone that will do what I'm looking for?

There's one called the Blue Ant that the outside sales reps at my work have and they really like it. I believe the cost is $100 or so. I just went and got a new headunit with bluetooth which works awesome with the mic on the a-pillar. If you need a new deck go that route but the Blue Ant works great.

Heres the one I was talking about. I'm sure you can get it cheaper then that tho.

^ Do you know if the BlueAnt S4 will automatically reconnect to your phone when you get back in the car without having to activate it again?

sorry I don't have a clue at all. I don't work with the most technical people and they haven't had any issues so I think it might.

Ah, I found it..

Page 13: "If you take your phone out of range of the S4 for more than 2 minutes, the handsfree trigger switches off and “sleep mode” is activated.
When you come back, you must tap the BlueAnt symbol to reconnect your phone and reactivate the trigger"

:(

I'm using the BlueAnt S1 and it reconnects without any problems. Not sure if you're able to get it still but works great for me.

http://docs.blueantwireless.com/pdf/S1UserGuide(en).pdf

If you take your phone out of range of the BlueAnt S1 for more than 20 seconds (without turning the S1 off), and then come back into range the S1 will search for your phone and reconnect automatically.

It can take up to 10 seconds for the S1 to find your phone and reconnect.

That's very interesting..
The BAS1 does it, the BAS4 does not.
The Moto T325 does it, but the new Moto T505 does not...

WHat issues does the T325 have? I bought one on Boxing day for 49.99 and have no problems with it so far

$49.99? That's a good deal. Did you get it at Best Buy?
I've heard that there are compatibility issues with some people having returned theirs up to 2 times before getting a working one; however those were just from online reviews.
I personally verified another known issue with my friend's T325 today: If you make or receive a call with the T325, you wont be able to receive another one without turning the device off and then on again. Well, you can receive the call, but the person on the other end can't hear you, and you can't hear them.

Yup Best Buy.

I've been receiving calls, making them, and just generally using it like I am expected to use it. No problems. I guess I'm just either lucky or the problem hasn't come up yet.

I bought one for my mom too, but she wont be back until Sunday - I'll let you know if anything screws up with hers.

Oh I'm running a T-Mobile Galaxy S Vibrant btw.

edit:: Just tested the other one out - no problems with it as well. List of trials below
Outgoing, Outgoing
Outgoing, Incoming

Loving the thing so far, especially the auto on/off. Walk about 10 ft from it and it autodisconnects and goes to standby.
Open the car door and it boots right away and connects

^ Wow, that's good to hear. Maybe you got lucky, or they upgraded the firmware or something..

Here is a thread showing the multiple people experience what I saw with my friend's T325:

He has an android phone too.. hmm.. I wonder if it's worth the risk for me.

It looks like the BlueAnt Supertooth 3 is able to do it to. Not sure if this model is still available either.

^Good find.. I don't understand why the newer generation of BT car speakers seems to have gotten rid of that feature...

Could be because of BT's range. When my truck was parked in the garage and i was inside it would still connect to the BT speaker in the truck.

That's quite possible...I've gotten in the habit of turning my bluetooth off on my phone before getting out of my car.

It looks like the BA ST3 and Moto T325 are the only ones with auto on?
I guess I'll try a T325 and hope to get lucky like the Captain..

That's the one the guys have at my work and they love it.

The box can be opened without "destroying" the packaging, the only real seal is the tape on the box which can be taken off carefully imo. other than that, there's none of that stupid plastic packaging that's molded on - it's just one piece of plastic put on top of another piece of plastic. so if you don't like it - it's just as easy to refund it

check out jabra, got one for $60 on ebay and it's good
