| Regular temps for Corsair H50?
Hey all. Recently purchased a whole buncha stuff on Boxing day and finally got to put this thing together.
I have:
Maximus III Gene Mobo
Pentium i5 760 2.8ghz OC'd to 4.01ghz, cooled by a Corsair H50
Corsair Vengeance 4GB ram 1x4gb
and a Radeon 5850.
Now, checking on Real Temp I'm noticing my idle temps at 45c (doesn't really matter, but fyi)
Now I run Prime95 and ran it for about 30 mins and it topped off at 68-70c in Real Temp...are these normal numbers?
I've seen discussions where it idles like 6 degrees lower and when it is in prime it is in around 55-65 tops...
Any support is appreciated. Thanks.

it all depends on how much voltage you're cranking into it to reach 4ghz.
I'd say thats a tad high, if you aren't running a high voltage i'd say try reseating the cooler.

Core Voltage is at 1.360 approx...in Bios it's set to auto so it'll adjust from what I see in CPU-Z. Should I set it to a manual number? If so, what?
My DRAM voltage was manually entered though to be 1.656, as I've been told is better for your CPU.
edit: Here are my CPU-Z entries.
core speed 4017.5mhz
multiplier: x21.0
Bus spd: 191.3mhz
qpi 3061.2mhz
My ram is at 9-9-9-24-2T

overclocking takes lots of time if u want low voltage
im running 4.0ghz on my i7 d0 with around 1.25voltage
there are some people that can have it at 1.225 but i've had no luck
take your time to set the voltages play around with it
as you play around with your voltages, you'll notice a drop in temp. but if your maxxing at around 70c i think thats fine imo since every chip is different and your case setup + your room temp. all play a factor

Started lowering the vcore and got it to 1.28 and doing some testing now. 100% load and it doesn't go over 65c in the last 40 mins. Also maxed out the fan speed for a bit more pull. Thanks for the tips guys! Posted via RS Mobile |

I read that the 760 overclocks well to 4.0, but requires too much of a voltage bump for anything above that. You CAN go above it, but personally, I think that 4.0 is plenty.
I actually have the exact same build - just with different RAM.
Are you doing a push or pull fan? and which case do you have?
I changed the fan to something slightly quieter, one of the Scythe Fans - the Quiet Typhoon or something - it works like a charm. It pushes just as more air and is quieter.
the H50 actually recommends you to push the hot air into your case - which some people don't like doing, but it works best because it draws cold air from outside your case. I personally have the Antec Mini P180, with a giant exhaust fan on top, so all the hot air that my heatsink creates goes out through it.

I have a corsair H50...liquid cooling. The radiator sits in the back where the old 120mm fan was under the power supply. Quiet. I also have 2 120mm fans on my Cooler Master Elite 310, one stock and one Scythe. One on the side, one on the front.
After testing I have a max 100% load temp of 65c and idle (doesn't really matter) of 39c...I'm happy with this. Don't wanna push it further than 4ghz.

ya, I have the H50 as well - you still need to connect a fan to it. I was wondering if you added another fan (which some people do to make it too, one to push the air, the other to pull it out), and also if your fan pushes air INTO your case, or out of your case.

oh yeah no i put a fan on the radiator which pulls in. the only one that pushes out now is the side panel. I don't really have many options to put fans to push any more with my case.

Terkan I'm sure once you OC your i7 will go up like 5-9 degrees at idle, more on load. Especially if you go a whole 1ghz extra. Make sure to get a good CPU cooler. Posted via RS Mobile |

whats rams are you using for your i7? is this 1366? or 1156 cpu?
and to playground you should add another fan on the H50 and maybe even custom mod it with a reservoir its pretty simple that should help as well |

low 60s to lows 70s on load for a 4.0ghz i7 920
but im pretty sure i can get my temps even lower if i add another fan to my old lga775 noctua heatsink for my i7 and not put the case on top of a carpet lol
