Nah, highly doubt it was a failure. Just for safety's sake. Although it wouldn't allow you to fly as fast, keeping you closer to stall.

As for the sound, honestly. That sound seems like it belongs to a bigger jet, but that's just me.

Gear-down flights are only for testing purposes. What if the gear mechanism fails during testing? Eliminate that risk by having the gear down for the whole flight.

Don't worry, when the USDM ones arrive, they will have a different front end and pilots will scramble to try to convert it to the JDM version.
