under 30 inch tv tax in bc?

so Chopstick bought this cute little 22in lcd tv and was flabbergasted to notice a $9 tax thingy on his receipt

can someone plz tell me what this "under 30 inch bc $9 tax thing" is? for what ulterior purpose does this serve?

tv bought at best buy, if this helps

seems quite racist to me. those dicksmackers

all electronics in BC have a recyclable tax I believe. Laptops have them. TVs have them as well. The bigger the size of the TV, the bigger the fee. Its like a disposal fee or some shit.. cash grab if you ask me.

Yup another disposal fee,

Did it list it as an EHF fee?

Just be glad it wasn't 32" or something. Then it would have been $30.

Grandmaster TSE 01-07-2011 02:02 PM

most likely EHF

InvisibleSoul 01-07-2011 02:15 PM

You didn't Google hard enough!

BlackZRoadster 01-07-2011 02:18 PM

why would u be on RS complaining about a mandatory fee?

TheKingdom2000 01-07-2011 02:18 PM

wow. i guess you haven't bought electronics in awhile.
this has been in effect for a couple years at least now.

^ yeah he's totally out of the loop, a 22inch LCD isn't a tv, it's a monitor! :bcrdukes:

haymura 01-07-2011 03:01 PM

$9.00 for anything under 32". anything over 32" is $31.75

Shun Izaki 01-07-2011 03:43 PM

EHF's are the bane of my existence.... they're annoying to explain to people buying shit online...

i thought he was sarcastic at first, but its a fail at sarcasm.

Reason is, there are huge monitors you can buy that is only considered "LCD monitors" b/c they don't have TV input.

If it has TV input on the monitor then its considered a LCD TV no matter if its 15" or xx"

yes im a geek

This is like someone explaining a joke. If you just tried it, you might have gotten away with it. Now, I just had to fail you.

hk20000 01-07-2011 05:51 PM
