Car audio installation help

I have an aftermarket car deck installed to my car awhile back. Recently I got this adapter that I can install to use USB for my music.

I am confused how to install this adapter. There's a yellow cable (battery) and black (to ground). How about do I install this? There's no cables for me to connect these to? I'm a noob when it comes to this kind of stuff.

If it helps, I'm using a Pioneer DEH-4900IB deck and this adapter box is the CD-UB100.

Hopefully you have all the cables. It should look like this.

The bus cable on the right will plug into the back of the deck.
There should be a usb cable on the front where you plug your usb into.

Black is ground. Yellow usually means battery, but in this case, I don't see why you can't connect it to a key activated power wire. I may be wrong about that though.

Ground the black wire.
Connect the yellow wire to the yellow or red wire on the harness if the yellow wire is long enough.

Don't know how much power the unit will draw with the car off, which is why I wouldn't connect the yellow wire to the battery.

If I connect the yellow to yellow on the harness, I would have to split it and tape it up then?

I think I would need to figure out another power source since, I don't want to be running the adaptor box with a constant 12V, going to be using up my car battery.

Am I able to connect the yellow (battery cable) from the CD-UB100 to the red (acc) cable on the harness? Because the red (acc) cable only powers on with the car key instead of running constant power if I were to use the yellow constant cable on the harness.

Is this possible? Any input would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I have a similar unit for my Pioneer deck.

Splice the yellow wire into the yellow wire coming from your headunit.

Ground the black wire, or if you want, you can splice into the black/ground wire from your headunit.

Cutting and taping up the connections is not the best way to do this, as you dont want any connections coming loose/coming apart a few months down the road. Do it right now, while you have everything out of the car.

I used the 'T connectors' to hook up mine. I picked up the connectors from Princess Auto (by FAR the cheapest place I've found). See the link. Then just use a male connector to plug into it. Very easy, and no tape!

But running it to the yellow, the usb unit will constantly be on then since it's a constant wire that supplies power, ??

Thanks for the input btw.

No, that would be if you tapped into the red wire I believe.

My CB100 unit is for ipod hook up, and it turns off after I shut the car off, and I matched yellow to yellow. Haven't had any issues.

If you are still unsure, maybe PM a sponser like orgasm_donor to be 101% sure.

The yellow wire says constant +12V or something on my harness. and the Red says ACC. ACC would be switchable power via my car key.

Yellow goes to yellow (constant 12 volt) and black goes to black.
The deck actually powers the USB unit on through the bus cable which should be connected to the IP-bus at the back of the deck. There is no way this box will draw power when the deck is off so don't worry about that!

Just 'splice' into the yellow wire from the harness where your deck is attached. Soldering is the best way to connect these wires. If you were to bring it by the shop I will solder it for free. I just want to make sure its done right!

Many thanks for your help. I got everything up and running this afternoon. Ended up using a tap connector or t connector, both look similar :S to connect the cables.

Thanks orgasm_donor for offering to solder for free. But I work in Surrey and live in Vancouver, won't be able to find time to hit up Coquitlam, that's why I took a different approach to get this done. Thanks
