O2 sensor install - how much?

I guess this will vary by car, but how much should an O2 sensor install cost? Toyota quoted me $350 for labor alone which seems absolutely ridiculous. I would DIY but I don't have jack stands or a ramp to go under the vehicle. It shouldn't take anyone with those tools more than an hour tops - it involves going underneath the car on the passenger side, taking out the old O2 sensor, plugging the new one in and then going underneath the passenger seat to plug it in the manifold. Anyone know a shop that would be willing to do it and not be unreasonable about it? I called a couple of joe blow mechanics and they told me to go to Toyota... haven't tried any specialized import shops yet.

First of all, what car is it for exactly? And which O2 sensor?

What kind of car are you driving? O2 sensor can be a bitch to take out, it depends on the car and how long the sensor has been in there. Remember shop charges also take into account the probability that the sensor threads might have been crossed etc. If it is OBD2 then there are more than one to deal with etc.

I'm sure you would have been quoted $125 plus install. Simple misunderstanding I suppose if so one that should have been brought up at time of payment.
Can you PM me more details I'd like to get to the bottom of this as I don't like people with sour tastes in their mouths.

As for OP some more details would be nice model year motor and such for the car in question.

It's for an IS300, bank 2 sensor 2. It is located under the passenger side. There are even instructions here: http://my.is/forums/f221/diy-p0161-o...e-pics-263613/

Small hands probably will mean the seat doesn't really need to be taken out. Still, I can understand shops having unexpectedly higher installation rates or even being hesitant to doing it since it's a pretty small job.

I have an IS300 in the shop right now lol I'll take a look and pm you a price.
