Serious Problem with Rapid Heartbeat

As I am typing this, my heartbeat is faster than normal and all i am doing is sitting on a chair..

This has been really hard on me. My heartbeat is always so rapid to the point where when I lie in my bed, my heartbeat is so strong it moves my whole body. It will take around an hour or two for it to slow down. Slow movements such as turning around to switch to another pillow will speed up my heart beat again.. its really starting to irritate me. Can anybody help? I am not unhealthy... far from it actually. Recently quit smoking for good, I workout and play a sport at least once a day every weekday. So yes, i do get quite a bit of exercise.

hmm maybe stress related?

i would talk to your physician about this, it sounds like a serious matter.

Can anyone help? Yeah prolly a doctor or cardiologist... Asking RS to diagnose your problem prolly isnt a good idea.

not to scare you but a friend's classmate died a few years back. he was fit, sporty, healthy, you name it.. i heard he complained of chest pains after taking a shower. Fell to the floor, called the ambulance, did cpr, but could not revive him. R.I.P. He had a heart attack and he was YOUNG.

as others have said, see your gp

Not really racist! 01-16-2011 07:31 PM

i believe one of the options is having surgery and implanting a chip into your heart or something like that, don't take my word for it, see your doctor ASAPP

go to the doc ASAP!

you posted this at 410pm...i would have been at the doctors office at landsdowne already

I kind of have that when I play sports sometimes. My heart beats REALLY REALLY fast to the point where I want to throw up. It only happens to me once in a while though.

But in your case, go see your doctor ASAP...

Did you consume any energy drink recently? If it gets worse or keep occurring, go to an ER immediately. Better to be safe.

Get to a doctor already! The ER if you have to!

I've gone through a similar situation, but pretty darn close to it. One night I was leaving friends house and it was cold outside, so I ran for a good 30 seconds to my car and my heart for the next two hours was pounding faster than usual. It was doing like 120+beats/minute. I'm pretty healthy and play lots of sports during the summer time, but because it was winter time, I don't play sports since it's off-season time for me due to the fact the sports I play are outdoors and it's too cold to play in the cold.

I went to the doctor as soon as possible, my doctor didn't know what the hell was going on either, so he sent me to do some scans/tests. Got sent in to see a specialist, but by then I was all better for whatever reason that no one even knows.

In conclusion, I think it was because I didn't exercise/workout for such an extensive period of time from that I guess my body wasn't use to the rapid running I did that may have triggered my heart to beat fast.

But this applied to me, so don't think everything is okay after reading this. Go to the doctor, like NOW just incase.

I went through the same thing. Stress + lack of sleep + too much caffeine + bad diet. Stop caffeine for a while, and cut starchy carbs (rice, wheat, bread, corn) from diet completely for a month at least.

see your doctor and ask to see a specialist. If it happens a lot then you should see a cardiologist or get an EKG.

pastarocket 03-15-2011 08:23 PM

Dude, see your GP and ask for a referral to see a cardiologist. Irregular heart beats can be a sign of something serious with your heart.

stewie 03-15-2011 09:25 PM

im in a similar situation as your man, i know how you feel. my heart beats quite fast on a regular basis, probably double the speed it should be beating at. ive been to the doctors and such and one of the things they had told me was that if your heart is beating extremely fast, its able to go into a self induced heart attack.

but i kinda like the feeling when im laying in bed and my heart beats so hard that i can feel my body shaking...weird..but i find it relaxing and calming....but thats just me..

yellowpower 03-16-2011 07:24 PM

^ yeah! i still havent found the time to go see a doctor cause of school and shit. But thats exactly how i feel too, i can feel my whole body shake. It's kinda fucked tho it's not relaxing for me its just really annoying cause it keeps me up an hour or two sometimes.

I know.. but the most fucked up part about this is, i dont want to know whats wrong with me.

jACEDesignsLtd 03-16-2011 07:42 PM

^go check it out.. maybe it's nothing. then you have peace of mind

popopopopp 03-16-2011 08:58 PM

maybe you drank too many energy drinks at a small period of time. you can die from a heart attack that way

BorLorBao 03-16-2011 09:14 PM

You better go see a doctor. My cousin had some heart problems and it took them a long time to figure out they needed to operate. His heart also was beating too fast. I am not sure exactly what his condition was or what the surgery did. He was first given the option to take pills for life but that didn't work out. I do suggest you go doctors and have them direct you to specialists to run tests.
