Learning a New Language

Hello RS members..

I have decided to take on the task of learning how to speak vietnamese. My hubby to be is vietnamese and I would like to learn his language so one day when we have children I will be able to teach them my own language (farsi) and their fathers language.

I know theres a bunch of books and etc out there and this whole rosetta stone torrent (I dont know how to exactly go about downloading it).. but what would be the best way to go about this. I would like to take a trip to vietnam when Im more comfortable with the language to go and try it out, I know it will help me learn alot more.

I havent learned a new language since highschool...lol... so this is going to be quite the challenge...

Thanks in advance..

:)

The best way to learn it is to speak it constantly, once in a while you could ask him to speak to you in Viet and you can reply. You could watch vietnamese movies with english subtitles haha

i need to learn vietnamese too, can anyone recommend a good textbook? there's countless ones for other languages like english, french, chinese, jap, etc, but i think viet learning textbooks are kinda uncommon, at least i've never seen any. and where do you buy it?

LOL! I was going to say the same thing!

I think watching lots of drama's in viet would help. I learned a bit of japanese and korean that way. Learning how to say "I love you" would be a very good start :D sarrraaannnggghaeyo!

check out zoxpro, they claim that they'll teach you to mentally photograph a book 25,000 words a minute, and could learn a new language in no time!
