^ Say yes, and arrest their ass! |
With what though? a "concealed weapon" that cop can charge you for? And how much force are you allowed? can we chase them down? so many things needed to be published for one to know how to do a actual citizen's arrest, hope they'll address it with a guideline... I won't want to be beat up by some random guy off the street saying they're doing a citizen's arrest when cops arrive while I've done nothing or if they interpret the law wrongly... |

i remember i watched an episode of COPS maybe a year ago...it was an old episode from the 90's in vancouver...there used to be a "vigilanty gang" of guys and girls who would walk around with shirts saying "guardian angels" on the chest or something along those lines...they would basically walk around and if they saw a crime...they'd deal with it on the spot...too bad thats still not around cause i would love to take part in that! |
actually a couple years ago those guardian angels came back.. they're basically a gang of thugs themselves we've always had citizens arrest laws in canada allowing anymore leeway in that direction than we already have is going to cause a lot of problems... a lot from gangsters attacking/kidnapping other gangsters and getting off scot free because its a "citizens arrest" to serial killers/rapists/kidnappers doing the same not to mention normal citizens getting caught up in some dumbass thinking he's made an arrest, thieves, crack heads etc will end up stabbing civilians where they normally just run away etc etc |
^ agreed... about the causing more problems part.. not to mention the people who try to do it will be endangering their own lives... it's hard to predict behavior in the heat of the moment.. |

if it involved me endangering my life to stop someone from getting raped/beat or anything along those lines, i would do it in a heart beat. not that i have a death wish or anything, but i know id be with a few other people to help me out if anything does escalate...and in the event that you do save someone from something, you can gurantee that the person you helped will never forget you and will think of you as a hero until the day they die. wich is probably one of the main reasons i want to get onto the fire dept. to save lives when and where i can... |
^good for you man! :fuckyea: good luck. |
the title is a misnomer. harper isn't introducing an arrest bill. like some here have already mentioned, S.494 of the Criminal Code of Canada already gives you the power to arrest an individual without a warrant. what harper intends to do is to amend the language in the CCC to make it less onerous to do so. ^ lol i thought people got that from reading the article ? |
he was resisting arrest so i shot him with a .50 cal on the leg just a little bit. what's the big deal? |
This all sounds promising, but let me guess.... you can still get sued for unlawful confinement if you do anything to immobilize him |

lol still fail |
currently its a PITA to make a citzens arrest, if you dont do it correctly you can get owned pretty hard, if the suspect is a smart person. |
