Great68 | 01-25-2011 01:18 PM | Police officers are expected to do good, it comes with the job. I agree that if a Police officer goes above and beyond the call of duty to do something good, then by all means they should be commended.
However, while they are expected to do good, they are also expected to never do any bad. They are expected to never do bad because they are in a position of public trust, they hold much more power than your average citizen. That's why a judge usually takes a police officer's word over yours.
So when they do bad, they also breech that trust, which is why there's far more outcry over the bad. Yes a few bad apples spoil the lot, but for people in their position of power, there shouldn't be ANY bad apples. |
