Bargain off MSRP Hey all, Finally decided to upgrade my bike for this upcoming season. Gonna go from a SV650 to a gsxr750. I saw that there's a suzuki promotion going on for all 2010 models so it's 2200 off. i'm just wondering how much more I should be bargaining for last year's model or rather, how much did you guys get yours for? Thanks! |
sometimes richmond motorsport gives insane deals on their close out inventory. i wasn't able to confirm this, but ive heard of 600s and 750s going out the door for 8k tax in. i picked up my 08 brand new for 10k after tax and everything, which i think is a pretty good deal considering msrp on a 750 is $14,000 |
Hey, so how do you like your 08 so far? How's the ride comfort over a longer distance and also commuting in the city? and wow, 08 out the door, that's nuts. |
I think my buddy paid $12,500 OTD for his GSXR750 at the start of the 2009 season |

i've ridden most of the japanese sport bikes out there and none of them are as comfortable as the gixxer. the seat is a lot softer than the competition, and the ride height is a little lower if that's important to you. but keep in mind, the most comfortable sport bike still isn't that comfortable by any means. the riding position is meant for you to be tucked down, not sitting up creeping in traffic. it's not bad if you're cruising on the highway but it get's really uncomfortable if you're riding around the city on a saturday. |

i picked up one of the last 08s they had on the lot. it just happens it was the exact color i wanted :D |
I know modern was selling their 600's for 8k and 750 for 9k taxes in. |
Damn, well I just signed off on a 09 gsxr750 for 11.5k out the door and thought I had a pretty good deal too |

Sometimes you those insane deals because the store was closing down. But other times you can't. msrp is 14k? You paid 11.5k which sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I paid 11k for my 600rr. |
Yea, i'm not much of a bargainer so it was a quick sale for the guy. Well at least that's one thing to look forward to for this summer. The bike basically was 9100 before any taxes, fright & pdi, doc fee and stuff. I'm just glad i didn't over pay for one |

congrats! if you need more info you can join the gixxer.com forums. a lot of useful information over there. |
what color did ya get? I was going to get a gixxer too... |
I got a white. I wanted a black but they didn't have any. Imo, the white for the 09 looks better than the traditional white and blue anyways Posted via RS Mobile |
Did you finance the bike? |
^ when i got the bike, suzuki had to go through a 3rd party for financing and offered me 14%. you're much better off just getting a loan from the bank. |
^ I know that financing through the dealership has high interest rates. I was just wondering if he did financing or did he pay the bike off full because my question is do you have more bargaining power if you tell them you are paying the bike in full? |
^ from what i remember, suzuki offered me the same price whether it was finance or buy out. i ended up paying with a cheque because they would have charged an extra 3% for visa payments. |
damn i was hoping i would have more bargaining power if i was to buy it out. lol well i guess i can always try. I'm looking into an 08+ gsxr 600 or 750 for this summer. |
Hey, It was gonna be a cash deal but no, from my experience of buying cars/bikes, they dont really care if you're buying with cash or financing because the financing is usually done through either a third party or thru their respective brand's financial services. Having said that, if you're buying used, i believe it's a different story because used vehicles are harder to qualify for financing i believe and there's a lot more bargaining room because you never know how much they bought is for. On a side note, I had called my cc company and canceled the deposit/deal because it seemed like RMS was going to go belly up from the unannouced "renovation/pre-season inventory" |
hmm yeah I would like to try to get a new bike, but seems like I would have to fork out quite a bit. Seems better to buy used from private sale. Problem is there's not much out there right now. |
Not many will sell right now because there isn't enough demand for it. Just wait till riding season starts and you should see a lot more bikes for sale. |
