removing and installing a civic door
 

Hi,

I was wondering how difficult it would be to change my passenger 96 civic si coupe door with a replacement door. I bought a used 00 civic si coupe door and want to install it onto my car. Is it easy to change myself??? Also it has power windows and power door locks which the replacement door has well.

What would I need to do this myself.. or is it better if i bring it to a shop to do it??? also what are the rates i should be charged if i were to bring it into a shop. no paint is required either as its already the same colour.

as for shop rates they can go from 60 an hour to 100, changing the door should be no more than 1 hour for a professional

I did this recently to my car and its really not that bad you just need a second
person to help with mounting the new door and removing the old one.
As long as the new door has the same harness it should be just a plug and play.
also watch out even though the paint color is a match you might still notice a
difference due to the less wear on the new door

honestly, you do not need a second person.

i removed and installed two doors with just jack stands in grade 12.
its extremely simple, as there are only 5 bolts, and 1 connector and as long as you do the final torque with the door closed it will line up with no problems.

hardest part is replacing the lock as there is a clip that holds in the lock and its a major PITA you need a long/skinny flathead to pry it out

The door swap is easy. Getting it all lined up might be a bit more difficult for nice even gaps and smooth latching but even that isn't difficult, just time consuming.
Now the internals in the door and the harness swap if needed can be a fair bit more work. If you'd like an estimate give me a ring.
