can it be repaired or.. so ive had a leak in my front drivers side tire for a lil while and after putting my winters on a couple months ago i think i noticed why, there's warping and a crack on the inside(backside) of the wheel anyway do you think something like this can be repaired or should i just buy a new one? (i took pics with a bunch of different settings so they're not great... the blue hued ones is due to the xenon flash -_-) http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5095/...00c9573b_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4102/...9b151e99_b.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5260/...375c8af1_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/...fd752cbc_b.jpg they're on my celica some kyowas http://www.kyowadesigns.com/content/...yper_black.jpg The only thing i can think of that caused it is on Hwy 1 going East @ the Hwy 7/7B exit, on the Railway overpass, in the far right lane, the concrete portion of the overpass doesn't connect well with the rest of the highway, so there's a rise/dip and the car hits pretty hard (well the first time i encountered it) |
It can be repaired for around $150 through most of the local shops. Cheaper because it won't require esthetic repairs/finishing. Having said that, I'd still price out a new one. IMO $200 for a new wheel is better than $150 for a repaired one and there's no down time. Definately don't drive on it. One pothole and that crack can expand quite quickly. |
ah thnx for the info, yeah may as well just get another wheel |
omg! i know EXACTLY what your talking about, that little connector on hwy 7b ext on hwy 1... i just use the left lane to take the hwy 7 ramp and just merge into right lane towards 7b after i pass that little pos pothole connector |
i know exactly which spot on highway 1 you are talking about just before the united boulevard exit right... i have ran over it a couple times thinking my tires may have popped. Im surprise they don't fix that up. |
WTF me and jpark posted almost the same thing at the same time |
Yeah you guys have the right spot in mind I hit it once, particularly badly. think i was low on air @ that time, maybe (it was really bad) that's the only thing that i can think of that did it pretty sure they did fix it once but it reappeared almost immediately, they probably won't until they finish the bridge work |
maybe with a google map, so that other driver will know where the exact location is? |
^soltaaa will probably rip on you if you do that :fullofwin: |
Safety first. Get a new one. |
http://www.kxwheels.com/wheel/kyowa-...yperblack/1616 it's $150 for a new one or $150 for repairs. just buy a new wheel :) |
So... I Finally got around to ordering a replacement wheel I looked around and i couldn't see anyone selling a Silver Kyowa wheel with that design... I don't even see Silver as an option on Kyowas own website and the picture of the Hyperblack looks just like mine.... so i was thinking hmm.... maybe Im wrong and there is no Silver they just call it Hyperblack (even though it looks silver) So i email Kyowa and ask "have you ever offered this model in Silver? because..." the reply I got was "no, its only ever come in Black and Hyperblack" So I email back to clarify and to be certain and yes the reply was the same.... So im like "oh okay my mistake, time to order" so i order the wheel from KX and it arrived today and low and behold.... its Gunmetal -_- All sales are final @ KX So now Im left with 1 gunmetal wheel and 3 silver ones + 1 broken So i can either order 3 more Gunmetal ones or get the 3 Silver ones refinished to look like the gunmetal..... (or the gunmetal silver) UGH such a pain in the ass i still have my winters on -_- Oh and can anyone offer their thoughts about refinishing to colour match? do they really match perfectly? and who would you recommend? I remember some threads about this so i'll be searching now but thought i would ask anyhow edit: So I email Kyowa Wheels and vent about how their information screwed me and they reply with "Oh wow you have silver ones? we actually did make some during our 1st batch but only for the 1st and never again, for you to have silver 210s is very rare! sorry for the inconvenience" @*#^!%$*#!^~ |
