IS it possible to upgrade from 2.2 to Rogers official 2.2 Hi there l got a AT&T Samsung Captivate with Android 2.2. The Base Version is I897UCJI6 (FROYO.UCJI6). Someone told me that Rogers just released Androdid 2.2, May I know would it be possible to use Kie to download Androdid 2.2 from Rogers directly to overwrite my existing 2.2 version? Please kindly advise ASAP. Many thanks in advance. |
You can try, some people have had varying levels of success by tricking Kies into thinking their model (SGH-i897 AT&T Captivate) is the Rogers one (SGH-i896 Rogers Captivate) by editing the build.prop on their phones, downloading an older version of Kies (1.5.3), and installing Microsoft .NET Framework 4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902336 If that doesn't work out for you, you can always flash a JL1-based rom, which is based off the Rogers update. Cognition is a fairly close-to-stock rom, Firefly is a bit heavier-themed, SimpFinity is a minimal rom, and there is a bone-stock Rogers 2.2 rom you can flash using ClockWorkMod recovery or Odin. Here's a link to the stock Rogers 2.2 rom, flashable via Odin/CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905042 The other roms are just in the Captivate Android Development section in XDA. Right now I'm running Paragon RC5.0, since it's on 2.2.1 and JS3 base (so I can use themes for other Galaxy S variants). My phone is an SGH-i896 Rogers Captivate, but flashing Paragon tricks my phone into thinking it's an SGH-i897 AT&T Captivate, lol. |
