A quick question about job posting
 

Hi. I just started my own business and I am currently looking for employees.

So far, the free online recruiting advertise sites I've came across and used are craigslist and kijiji.

I tried vancouverjobshop and workopolis but they are quite pricy, and I wasn't too sure if I wanted to use the paid service yet.

Is there any other online website that I can post job ads for free?

I think you get what you pay for so what kind of employees are we talking about? Unskilled labor or highly experienced executives?

I've been hired, done hiring and posted advertisements for my company on craigslist before and it's always been a very useful tool. Many of the resumes I receive through craigslist are poor quality and not suited to the posted position, but there are always a few good enough to warrant interviews. Although some time is lost sorting through the poor quality resumes, the cost of time is easily less than the rates charges by pay sites.

I've also developed ongoing business relationships with a number of contractors who my first contact with was through craigslist.

What line of work are you in?

I'm well versed in reading a specific type of resumes for a certain skill set; I could critique and suggest improvements for tradespersons resumes, but I would be out of my element reading an accountants resume.

If I can't help you out, I'm sure someone else on the forum has experience in interviewing for whatever line of work your in.

No particular field, im just a university student trying to find a part time job at places like, future shop, bestbuy, london drugs, save on, superstore, homedepot, etc.

why not drop by your "career and counselling" department on campus? They usually they provide free resume editing and advice.

im looking to hire students who are interested in full time summer painting
im a student myself as well doing this for summer to afford tuition and housing

Craigs list and Kijiji should be just fine, also contact Douglas, SFU and UBC and see if you can post in thier student unions.

it's free to post and I find it not as shady as craigslist

i find job bank to be either filled with government jobs (as it's meant to be) or pretty crowded with random crap...a lotta really weird 5 person workplaces posting shit lol...also not sure if OP's target audience (summer contractor students) would be looking there.

+1 for craigslist being good. Everyone uses it, especially the target audience (i think there's even a section for contract jobs). Sure 90% of the responses will be crap, but the other 10% will be better and easier to get than on other sites.

if ur a university student, you should also look into posting it on your university career centre website(s). I know sfu business had a career centre with job postings, i'm sure other faculties in other universities do as well.

But with that said, all the general type of job sites i remember from when i was doing my job search (besides craigslist):
