Are you trolling the Computer Tech, Gaming & Electronics section? The only reason I am asking this is because of this thread:

You may have a virus that is creating dummy files. Have you run a virus scan recently?

gdoh 02-10-2011 08:29 AM

try running a manual full scan and see if it picks up anything.

Altoids94 02-10-2011 09:32 AM

Use crap cleaner, that should free up some space.

Install TreeSize Free and run it.

You'll find out what is taking up your disk space.

Also run CCleaner. It gets rid of all the garbage files. Disk Cleanup is crap.

FerrariEnzo 02-10-2011 10:30 AM

if its a work comp.. tell the tech guys to look at it... if you dont have any, call the boss, have him pay a professional to come and take a look.. if your not familiar, dont do anything, if you mess it up, your in deep shit

gdoh 02-10-2011 10:34 AM

no my keyboard was fucked it was typeing backwards and shit

what do you guys think of adblockplus and no script for firefox??

Alby 02-10-2011 11:49 AM

awesome addons for FF.

i was going to suggest you to delete system restore points as that may save you some pretty file space, but since its a work comp, you might as well just leave it alone and wait for your boss/IT to fix it so you don't get in shit.

twitchyzero 02-11-2011 01:37 AM

CCleaner

gdoh 02-11-2011 05:47 AM

it is a 74gb but he managed to clean it and freed up 55gb =| i think he used this thing called hijackthis ??

EDIT: he said that my anti virus had corrupted itself lol

Dragon-88 02-11-2011 10:49 AM

Easiest is to reformat and have a brand new running OS.. If not make sure you atleast do a disk defrag so your hard drive doesnt have to work as hard.. Since you removed soo many files already.

illicitstylz 02-11-2011 11:27 AM

hijackthis just provides a log of every running process in your computer. makes it easier to analyze what should be running and what shouldn't.

Jeremy617 02-11-2011 11:41 AM

if its a work computer and you aren't in a small company... call your helpdesk.

anything else and you're just wasting yours and your company's time

i'm still not convinced this isn't just a big :troll:

gdoh 02-11-2011 11:43 AM

^read up a little further were i said its fixed before you post and i need to convince you why? lol

underscore 02-12-2011 09:06 PM

for anyone who may find this later, I use JDisk Report to show me what is filling up my drives.

slightly off topic but I remember hearing of a program that would list duplicate files and files that hadn't been used in a long time, anyone know what its called?
