Car made with wood Splinter Supercar When Joe Harmon and his graduate student buddies at North Carolina State University needed to complete a woodworking project, they didn’t set out to build a bridge with popsicle sticks. They had a Cadillac engine and wood. Lots of wood. Lots of different kinds of wood. Says the leader of the group, “We figured that if it was possible to make a 425mph wooden plane 60 years ago, we could have a go at a wooden supercar." http://autos.sympatico.ca/docs/4d559...r-Supercar.jpg link: http://autos.sympatico.ca/did-you-kn...made-with-wood |

before the thread opened up, i thought it was some "artwork" from arash |
http://www.joeharmondesign.com/ It's pretty cool that they started right from scratch, making their own veneer strips to later weave into what would be the skin. I didn't watch all the vids but suspect they might have reinforced the skin with some sort of epoxy resin. Either way, cool project. |

It's okay, the Italians have proved recently that it doesnt really matter if the car is made of wood or carbon & aluminum... they all burn. http://www.egmcartech.com/wp-content...mages_main.jpg |
