5mm wheel spacers - replacing studs?
 

Hi everyone

I bought some Ichiba 5MM spacers for my front hubs, and it came with some extended studs. I mistakenly thought they were bolt-on spacers, but then realized they were slip-on spacers with extended studs.

Do I really need to replace my studs for a 5mm spacer?

Depends how long your stock studs are. I think people say you should have atleast 8-10 full turns for the nut to be safe.

ive never seen bolt ons less than 15mm
i had to replace the studs for my 10mms on the front. its a bitch to do, but its much safer than losing torque space.

Project Kics make a 10mm thats bolt on. I'm using it on my front on my Integra cause I don't wanna deal with replacing bearings etc.

5 MM spacers should be OK on stock studs.

When you start moving past 5MM, extended studs should be used (ie 8mm, 10mm).

As long as the nuts grab the majority of the stock studs, then it is OK.

I run 5 MM spacers on stock studs on my Acura, and so does my brother. I talked to a Tech at Burrard Acura and he said that it will be fine..... but this is for a TL and a Type R.

Just a heads up, I've read anything greater than 7/8 mm, studs should be changed. And the amount of rotation is important, but read different on different forums.
These wheel spacer manufacturers include the studs for a reason.

I had time to change 1 side. I might be able to push a 10mm so just in case I do, I guess there is room to upgrade.
