Noob here Trying to make 25+ posts, but this is my first, so maybe I'll give a quick intro' of myself. Born and raised in Vancouver. Had a thing for electronics/mechanical design, so I went to BCIT/Uvic and got an engineering degree. I'm working as an automotive engineer right now for a company who makes electric vehicles. K, let's get to the point. I need a car in the sub 10k range. I was thinking of getting either a Celica, or a RSX type S. I'm sort of a car noOb, so please enlighten me. Also, if you guys have, or know anyone who are trying to sell their car in my price range of the type of car that I'm looking for, please give me a shout. Peace! |
Welcome.........but on the other note, what's with so many noobs today  |
rsx-s, or a 350z |
You gotta ask yourself what do you want and like and narrow it all down. You like coupes I see. Other things to ask yourself are like do you want to mod your car inside out or just exterior? RSX-S is rare because it's discontinued and you get the car at around 10k now with stock turbo and you might get some extras thrown in as well. I search for you on craigslist: Car looks alright but it needs some fixing which the kit. All exterior extras. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/bn...147404290.html Clean 02 with a bunch of mods. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/pm...207062350.html search up craigslist for random cars sometimes to see what you really want |
^lol both of those cars are hall of shame material. |
LOL the 2nd rsx is OKAY...the first one belongs in riceville. Get an rsx yo. EDIT: 2nd one is bad too...I hate the wing. I thought it was a stock wing didn't look closely.... |
Buy something stock with as low km as possible, thank me later. |
I test drove a 2005 toytoa Celica GT, and I liked it. It was pretty cozy inside with the leather interior, and it wasn't too fast, or too slow. But looking at what's available, you can almost get a RSX type S for almost the same price. I guess it's better to buy an older car with lower milage than a new car with higher milage? But yea, the RSX and Celica are the only two cars that I've narrowed down to unless you gys have other suggestions. I rode in my buddy's 400+ hp mustang, and shat my pants and stained his seats a little, so I'm not too big into "modding". Only thing that I would consider modding would be some high fidelity audio. |
Those are both fail, well the celica more so. The rsx can be cool. But seriously, get a volvo. |

and how the hell is RSX a rare car? I see like a dozen of them each day |
Another thing I'm a little bit worried about is Air care. Anyone know how hard it might be to pass? and insurance might rape me up the bum. I got my license late so I only have 20% discount, but I called ICBC and they said you can put it under someone else's name and put myself as the primary driver. |
Aircare is easy to pass. Just depends how badly you feel like cheating. |

you wont have to worry about air care for cars 2000+ unless they got some sort of problems with the internals, missing cats, etc... even then, theres ways around it. as far as insurance, your premiums will be based on how far away you live from work, and mostly driving record. other things to consider is they charge more if its a two door coupe, or color red. if you get some anti-theft devices, youll save some change. |
The chick car comment is pretty much meaningless, it all depends on how the driver of the car views it. Everybody calls the Miata a chicks car, but it doesn't mean the car is any less fun to drive, or nice to look at. Regardless, you will see both the RSX and Celica everywhere. Both are great cars to drive around, the main difference is the modding potentials between the K20 is way higher compared to the 1zzfe or 2zzge. Both cars are solid and are mostly hassle free if you care for it. My friend who drives a RSX Type S loves the cockpit area of my Celica GT, the way things are layed out and the seats on it. Ultimately it is up to you to test drive to see which you prefer. |
