should l keep My Laptop? Hi to all computer experts I have a like new ASUS U30JC-1B laptop with 4GB of Ram . Not too sure why I feel it is kind of slow. May be because the processor is only a Core i3-370Mpu. Should I sell this Laptop and get a Acer Timeline Aspire 3820TG-6829 with a Core i5-480M? Pls let me know what you think. Posted via RS Mobile |
it'd be nice if you mentioned you need your laptop for. i have the 3820TG (i3 though) and it's been absolutely phenomenal in terms of portability, battery life, performance. |
Only need my laptop to check email, facebook, watching streaming movie. I am not a gamer. Hope this info helps. Posted via RS Mobile |
OP, i have the same laptop and it's not slow imo. For your tasks, it should be more than enough and I don't think your tasks would push the processor enough to create a noticeable difference between the two processors. The difference between i3 and i5 isn't all that much http://starredreviews.com/intel-core...fference/1934/ http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/518..._(PGA988).html |
i3 with 4gb ram shouldn't be slow for email/facebook/movies |
i got the same cpu and ram and its by no mean slow maybe you want and ssd |
Have you maintained your system? Updates, virus and spyware, defragment. Etc. Posted via RS Mobile |
May be I shpuld remove the trial version of Trendmicro Internet Security and disable some of the start up apps before considering to get a SSD. |
I think the i3/i5 you said above the performance is only slightly better for the i5. I was doing research a few months ago and ended up with a acer 3820 timeline i3. Run a windows experience test and you will find your HD the one that is having the lowest rating. |
Take a look at your startup apps, and any virus and what not. Sometimes the oem apps has a lot of issues with the performance of the system. Posted via RS Mobile |
Since you seem like a computer noob, you probably have all the initial bloatware still on it. Do a clean installation of Windows with the serial on your laptop, and see how that feels. If you still think it's slow, grab a SSD and an external enclosure for your existing HD. Use the SSD for your main applications, and put the rest of your shit like music and videos on the external hard drive. |
I have the same laptop http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus...are-guide.html read that to remove all the bloat |
