Remember this feeling of freedom because once you do public practice, you will be up to your eyes with work and deadlines. Depending which firm you go to, you'll get alot of these challenges you're looking for. All in due time, comrade!

I'm here until I get my casb pre-reqs. Even if I am upto my eyes with work at least I'll be learning something being progressive.

When I get bored I surf stuff online. If I am really really really bored I sit in my chair eyes close and just rest for a bit.

I don't think he's talking about that kind of boring.

In accounting/book keeping there's always work to do. It can just be mind numbingly dull sometimes but you still have to slog through it.

Coasting is great... when you're 45 and have a wife and kids.

In your mid-20s, not so much, unless you have a bunch of stuff on the side to keep you busy.

I'm not in accounting a few reasons but i've been in the labor for 10 solid years, been thru 4 serious long term jobs so i'll chime in.

I don't know how old you are, but for me, my goal is to always plan an exit strategy the moment i feel bored. How does that feel? In 2001, I realized I went to work for 8 hours, and I LITERALLY spent 6 hours reading tucker max, forums, online newspapers...etc. I would surf to the end of internet daily, twice.

Changing jobs is great, cause it'll give you a sense of a new challenges and USUALLY, you'll get a huge bump in pay. I've never been in a company getting consistently 10k raises. If you jump ship, it's always possible.

BOTTOM line, when I first quit my first job as a manager of a call center, if you quit your 1st job, that's great, new grass, if you quit your second job, 3rd job, 4th job year after year and you keep on complaining about how you're bored and the people suck. Well guess what, maybe it's YOU.

Keep that in mind, try out other shit. I quit accounting even though i got a scholarship from them. I knew it wasn't for me back in High School, I'm glad I'm not into sales.

Don't know if I'd call having 4 employers in 10 years "long term"

I was bored as piss in my last job (also call centre management). After the first year or so it just wasn't challenging and I could do my entire day's work in about 2 hours. The rest of the day would be spent shooting the shit with co-workers, surfing the internet, procrastinating etc. That's when I decided to work towards my degree part-time, while keeping my kooshy job. Looking back I should have left earlier to pursue something a little more challenging and fulfilling.
