	   | Z32 loose eBrake swap on S14 -

I have a specific problem regarding my Z32 ebrake swap on my S14. Simply put: My eBrake became looser, unresponsive, and weak after the swap. Before wasn't so bad, but now, I really have to tug on the eBrake HARD just so I can stop it from moving on a hill.
This is what my guy said to me after I got my car back from the shop: Quote: | We did notice the ebrake wasn't as responsive as before. We tried tinkering with the adjustment but we couldn't get it much better. Could be an issue with the handbrake mechanics itself. We didn't want to adjust too much because the ebrake could become engaged after the rotors heat up.
If you want we can see if we can adjust it a bit tighter.
 | What do you guys suggest I should do? Any advice would totally help!
Best regards,
Nick

I'm not 100% sure, but did you keep your stock S14 brake master cylinder, or did you switch over to the Z32 one?I've read online that if you do a Z32 brake swap (front IIRC) and keep the stock S14 BMC, it will be weak and mushy.

I'm guessing that having the smaller S14 BMC with the rear Z32 brakes may cause this as well.

			Hey, Endless,
I used a Z32 BMC, along with a full front and rear Z32 swap. It shouldn't be mushy then...

i hear swapping over the rear brakes onto the s14 causes alot of issues because the separate thing for the ebrake, did you keep the stock ebrake assembly or go with the z32?

^ S14 ebrake will not work with a rear Z32 brake swap, and the BMC doesn't affect the ebrake. I'm no mechanic, but maybe it's an issue with the ebrake cable?

IIRC a z32 ebrake lever has more cable pull then a s13/14. Maybe Akira will chime next time he's on line and clarify as he's done hundreds of these swaps over the years.

Phil, why would the Z32 eBrake lever have more cable pull? A friend's stock Z32 eBrake is pretty responsive and tight, It wouldn't make sense for the Z32 eBrake on my S14 to be loose.
Satek, I'll ask the guys the same question when I bring my 240 in again this week.
Thank you all for the help. Without you guys I wouldn't have gotten anywhere! I'll keep you all updated on this issue.

Again I'm not entirely sure about my assessment Akira would be the best guy to give you a definitive answer.

Which shop did u get all this work done at? Surprised they didn't check the 10mm on the lever to begin with. Might say something about their competence around Nissans..Posted via RS Mobile | | | | | 03-03-2011, 04:59 PM | #13 | | My homepage has been set to RS
