Pre-Paid with Data for the states (Washington)

I'll be headed down to the states pretty soon to play tourist.

It would be ideal if I could surf, navigate and look for stuff on my phone while I'm down there.

Was wondering if you guys have ever gotten a pre-paid sim with data?

thanks.

How long are you going for? Do you really need data while you're down there?

theres a prepaid plan for fido that includes 1 dollar a day with unlimited data or smth, but iuno if it works in states, obviously it wud be roaming then... i dont know

what phone do u use

2 days probably.

Mostly just driving around... playing tourist and eating.

I think the GPS doesn't need data, but google maps does?

Edit:
I use a samsung captivate

I usually add on the US Data Travel Pack a few days before I head down.

Something like this.

^ that's pretty pricy.

I wonder if you're allowed to use the rogers $10 Canada/US data service for a month or two, because that would be pretty good. What that is, is that for an additional $10 per month, you can use your data plan within Canada and the US.

Just preload your maps before hand. Use another software other than Google Maps, there's quite a few out there.

If that's the only reason you need data for, its not worth it. Just take advantage of the free wifi everywhere.

Hmmm,
I guess that's true.

So can somebody confirm if GPS takes data?

cheapest t-mobile prepaid was $50 (phone + sim and some minutes) not worth it for only 2days IMO
