Help with uploading ringtones to my phone So I just bought a SE Cedar phone. I uploaded some mp3 ringtones to my phone via USB cable into the 'ringtones' folder, but it's not showing up on my phone's ringtone list. My phone does support mp3 (I can play the ringtone under the phone's media player), but I it doesn't show up when I try to select a ringtone. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance! |
Where did you buy your phone from? |
From Fido. Even though I see the file is in the correct folder (using windows explorer), when I select the folder with my phone, it says "empty folder". But I can play the mp3 with the built-in media player. It just doesn't show up under ringtones! edit: so when I go under file manager --> music --> ringtones, they all show up now. However, when I try to "use it as ring tune". it says "cannot set this file as a ring tune". WTF? But there is also 20 pre-loaded mp3 ring tunes listed and I can't use those as ringe tunes either?! What gives? |
OKAY, this is my first new phone in 4 years so obviously I'm out of the loop :failed: . Apparently Fido locks using mp3 ringtones. I had to download SE DRM packager software to convert the mp3 into a ringtone...ghey... |
Yes, all the carriers do that - not just fido. well at least you figured it out :) |
