if a WW3 does ever happen, it wont last very long

I agree that it would be very difficult. Impossible for an insurgency but not another national force. But those battle groups aren't invincible.

Hell they had a Chinese sub surface right in the middle of one just to say "look what we can do" a few years ago.

Insurgents can use the indigenous populace as cover- and use it to create panic and fear. Personnel operating the canals are probably the best targets, not the ships.

I get the feeling that a good number of people who posted in this thread are pulling random preconceived ideas out of their asses.

A World War will be caused by a myriad of factors, spiraling (as history might suggest) down to domination, ideology, or an increasing possibility, resources. You don't just take one random snippet found somewhere on the internet and single it out as the cause of a World War.
And, if you're gonna do that, at least take the effort to copy and paste the article.
