Was I lucky? So today i was going to school and was looking for a parking spot. I was only focusing on the stalls to my right because there was a cute chick walking by. But when i looked over to my left, i saw a car pulling out of its stall, and by then it was too late. His rear bumper hit my rear right fender. My car's fine, i have some minor scratches on the plastic above my wheel arch , nothing on the paint. His car had a few scratches on his bumper about the length of my forearm. Luckily they were not deep. So was it my fault or his? He was backing out and didn't do a 360 check. But i was paying attention to the road.... Afterwards, we agreed to not exchange any info because it wasn't that big of a crash. So was i lucky that we didn't exchange info? Or was it his fault, and he lucked out? I'm just curious. Sorry for the long read. |
since its a parking lot, its 50/50 he should of looked better before reversing out, just like you should of been watching for people reversing out... if there wasn't much damage then it doesn't really matter... just like the time i rear ended this guy in his company truck... there was NO damage but i got him to "forget" about it with 40$, he tried to get 100$ outta me but i told him i "only" had 40$ lol... that was when my front plate got a permanent bend in it. |
the cute chick that walked by is at fault |

^ should've asked her to be a witness and got her contact info. |
pretty sure the guy backing out of the stall is 100% at fault. |
i think it would have been his fault, but since there wasnt much damage at all, if any, then just let it go since you both agreed to |
^ +1 vehicle coming out of a parking spot (regardless of pulling out or backing out) is always at fault, it is up to that vehicle to ensure that the roadways are clear before leaving their spot. you shouldn't be held liable at all. |

How did he hit your rear right fender if he came out from the left? |
Exact same situation happened to my dad. My dad being in your place. The guy backing out was at 100% fault. I'd say he's the one that was lucky. But since you said it wasn't much damage, just brush it off. |

WHO IS SHE |
Were you lucky? Well luck is kind of relative in this case. I would define lucky in this instance as you got her number, had a nice dinner, went for drinks and then she asked you to toss it in her cute little behind later that night. I must digress tho as this isn't the relationship room nor is it lala land So no you didn't get lucky. Look where you drive cus next time it might be my car you drive into and I'm not very friendly when people don't pay attention and drive into my cars and I'm sure I'm not the only unfriendly dude out there when their cars get bumped around by horny little buggers that don't pay attention. Now show us more pics! |
i knew this would happen to you one day... worth it |
I wouldn't have had let it go, squeeze some money out of the guy, you're supposed to look back when you reverse, so no I don't think you were the lucky one. But then again, you got to see a cute chick... you were probably like http://image.spreadshirt.com/image-s...man_design.png so I guess you win some you lose some haha |
