Where is the best place to buy an HDMI cable?

I was looking at future shop and best buy and they all seem to be above $30. Saw some BNIB on craigslist for $5. Is there any difference between the really expensive ones and the cheaper ones? Where is the cheapest place they sell HDMI cables?

There is no difference between the expensive ones and the cheap ones. It's a huge fucking marketing rip off. The price of cables is fucking insane for what your actually buying. Monster Cables are the biggest rip off on the market.

Berz out.

Cool, thanks everyone

One other question, I just bought a 40" LCD TV with HDMI and I want to hook up my laptop to it so that I watch the movies from my laptop on my TV. Will the TV show a very pixelated version of my laptop or will it look good

t8v6 03-02-2011 10:55 PM

it should be fine assuming the videos you're playing is 480p or higher.

W2K 03-02-2011 11:25 PM

720P movies should look good from laptop to TV via HDMI.

Depends on your comp's vid card capabilities but most modern comps would easily upconvert to your TV's res (720/1080). For 40' even with old DVD rips (480) UC to 1080 its acceptable. It only gets pixel-ish/grainy once you go over 52' (at least for my preferred viewing distance)

Just make sure your videos are 720/1080 versions, and it should be great.

On the other hand, I tried playing 480's linked to the TV via rca before, ands its acceptable too...so I wouldn't see why it would be that bad off if you're using HDMI.

+1 for monoprice.

NCIX.com if you want local.

hotjoint 03-03-2011 07:11 AM

I buy mine off ebay. Two 6ft 19 pin hdmi cables for $6 after shipping/conversion.

Culverin 03-03-2011 07:39 AM

Also +1 for monoprice.

I get all my cables and TV mounts from there.
The build quality of their stuff has not let me down yet.

sonick 03-03-2011 07:42 AM

NCIX if you want it right away. Otherwise, Monoprice.

iamon 03-03-2011 08:13 AM

monoprice when it is on sale, sometimes they have cables that are under 2$ each and come in some funky colours, my last one was purple, shipping kinda kills the deal unless you buy other things. NCIX is the best if you miss out on monoprice's deals

ilvtofu 03-03-2011 09:37 AM

Try Lee's or Main electronics they have some that aren't too expensive, very nice quality cable unlike the cheap ebay ones I have
