Building A System: Need input on Prossesers please?

I've been doing my research for a bit now, I am building a new rig for the next run of games I wish to play that are mostly coming out this May.
Between now and then is about as good as any time to start looking at the market right?
Something i read at an other website got my attention; If I some day SLI or crossfire Or if I would run other PCI-E cards such as a sound card, Gigabit LAN card, PCI-E Video Capture card, etc. due to the sheer number of lanes Would impact which processes would fit my needs best correct?

I am not sure if I my set up would factor in this lane issue.
I am taking my sound and video capture cards from my current system to the next one

Video Capture Card: Black magic Intensity Pro http://www.blackmagic-design.com/p [...] techspecs/
"Computer Interface PCI Express 1 lane, compatible with 1, 4, 8 and 16 lane PCIe slots."

Sound Card: Auzentech X-Fi Prelude http://www.auzentech.com/site/prod [...] ifications
PCI?

I often use the capture card to watch my pvr/live cable, while I'm gaming.

I run 1 "monitor" (100" 1080p Epson projector)
As for the Video card upgrade, I haven't decided on what I will end up with, probably Just 1 580gtx, but i want to leave my options open just in case i want to SLI/Crossfire (no more then 2) or when it comes to choosing my next CPU.

So what would suit me best performance/value? i5 2500k, i7 2600k, i7 990x? other?

(wait a little longer for the next wave to hit the market?)

just get a 2600k and overclock it to 5Ghz

there isn't anything faster than that
