Sorry I think It's rediculous that a person should suffer penalties financial or otherwise BEFORE they have their day in court.

I don't believe that's its better to let 9 guilty walk free than one innocent go to jail. Why? cause the rate is more like 9,999,999 to 1.

I'm calling BS that a 1984 Mustang and 1984 Capri happened to be on the same stretch of road at the same time in the same colour. Everyone has one of these stories, and they are usually not true.

Besides a 1984 Mustang cannot even go 40 kmph over the limit :p

The law in Ontario had already changed my behaviour before I moved out here, so I'm already used to checking the speedo to make sure I'm not 40 over, since I do have a habit of speeding. :)

My Mom was in the passenger's seat.

Mustangs and Capris were the same chassis from 1979 to 1986. Lots of them on the road.

We were on the south end of the Knight St. Bridge at night, the Mustang flew past and turned off onto Bridgeport. Next thing we knew we were being pulled over.

I still remember my dad trying to plead his case to the cop, my parents going to court and loosing with the judge saying "I tend to side with the officers on matters like this", Obviously it was their word against his.

You can say you would rather have an innocent get nailed than a guilty go free, until it happens to you. Growing up with that experience has just soured my opinion the system in general.

If this had happened today, my dad would have lost his car for a week and had to pay impound charges, who knows what other impact on his daily life, before he could even plead his case? And that would be OK???

Apparently it is ok in the police state of BC.

Coulda been worse - they coulda been in Ontario, and the whole family could stand there and watch the car get crushed under their street-racing penalties.

Either way, it's a fitting punishment for just driving a Capri in the first place.

Great. So now instead of drivers going 120km/hr in an 80km/hr zone underposted by 20km/hr and keeping their eyes on the road, they're going 110km/hr and staring at their gauges.
