condensation in my HID (06 acura TL) so a friend of mine backed into the front of my car, doing minor damage (scratches to the bumper, etc) but it appears he cracked the casing on the inside of my HID. from the front, the HID looks perfect, not a scratch, but now since the collision, after washing my car, water/condensation got in there and wont leave. someone told me when i was hit it must have cracked the casing behind the bumper, and thats why water now gets in. aside from replacing the whole HID unit which is 1k, is there anyway to fix this? it looks terrible with condensation in the light. help!! thanks :] |
Take the headlight out, find out where it is cracked from and seal it with silicone? |
Get a quote from a shop to seal it right. Shouldn't be super expensive I don't think. |
what do you mean HID unit... (HID is a type of lightbulb) You mean the headlight housing right? or do you mean the actual projector itself? It's a common problem in TLs to have condensation in the headlight assembly - especially when it's cold and wet outside. Perhaps because of the collision you are more aware of the area... |
take out the light, and reseal it/cover in RTV(if its not visible) and if its visible use mold resistant silicone(bathroom silicone works) |
thanks for the info guys. and yea, it was the casing (unit) not the actual HID bulb. |
Also check the bulb cover if the rubber seal is still good |
hit it to knock the water off :troll: |
