The sad part about Dudley's case is that upon being discovered 4 days later she was sitll alive but died en route to the hospital.

I listened to an interview with her parents where they stated that she was stuck to her chair because of all the blood and couldn't move.

Pretty traumatic details for the family to digest. And hence the outrage at the lack of consequence for the officer who didn't even leave his vehicle when he attended the scene.

So is the consensus that the PARE test is currently too lenient? To me, if you're a desk jockey, it's ok. But if you ever end up in the field, I think as a tax payer, I'd feel pretty bad if you're sending me 1 fit guy and 1 not-fit guy and it costs one of my family members their life.

"The statistics regarding weight loss amongst Mounties may be misleading. Obesity is measured by body mass index (BMI), which is based on height and weight measurements. The problem with BMI is that particularly muscular people may be classified as obese, when in reality, their extra weight is not due to unhealthy body fat."

brad pitt in fightclub was calculated as obese (not saying all RCMP officers are brad pitt), though you can certainly tell from the movie that he was probably in one of his prime stages

Good thing you pointed that out. A headline of "25% of RCMP officers are obese" is obviously more catchy, but we should always read between the lines. It's also why I put "obese" in quotations in my original posting.

How many of those do desk duty and aren't doing General duty?
Anyways, cops are human. Humans make mistakes. Yes, there are some stories that are ridiculous, and I believe that there should be stronger punishments, but when you get information from the media, you aren't getting ALL of it. You get the parts that turns heads.

These 2 cases are sad, but I don't see much wrong with it. The car accident was just that, an accident. I am sure the officer feels horrible, and although that won't bring back the 2 that died, it isn't like she was DUI. Cops are trained in emergency situations, but when was training ever the same as real life? You are never 100% prepared for real life. You can train and be AS MUCH prepared as you possibly can, but you can never predict the unpredictable.

As for the woman who died from gunshot wounds. As Acuracura said, it isn't like the police can kick down every door in the neighbourhood. No one knows the extent of the circumstances in the situation. The police have a lot less power these days in terms of barging into ones home, and doing whatever they like.

There are rotten apples everywhere, in every profession. Should the RCMP, VPD, etc enforce stricter punishment against members that do not use good judgement or break the law? Probably, but in these 2 instances, I would not expect or want either of these officers to be relieved of their duty as a LEO.

Being a police officer is like being a hockey team in Canada. You will be ridiculed out of town for all the bad. The only difference is, that hockey teams get praise for doing good.

lmfao @ docked 1 day pay, oh wow, big fucking deal.

I hate when people compare us, normal citizens to RCMP saying 'what would you do if you had to save lives blahblahblah' there's a fucking reason they work for the RCMP. They should be able to deal with shit like that, they should be able to deal with pulling a gun out and saving people if they have to. If they aren't able to do that than they shouldn't be working for the RCMP in the first place. I'm aware that there are good cops and bad cops, just like every race, there's good and there's bad..it sucks when people have a bad experience with say a native person or two and jump to the conclusion that all natives are poor jobless alcoholics.

But lol at some of the things cops get punished with, 'suspended 1 day without pay' or 'suspended 3 weeks with pay' gtfooooo.
