Worth the upgrade?

I have a toshiba 32inch lcd tv. It's 60hz and 720p

I got offered a brand new without box lg 42inch tv for $400
it is 1080p, and 120hz

for the quality and size difference , would you upgrade?

This tv is for my room btw.

Yes. Are you trading with somebody? Or is this an exchange through a retail company?

My tv is $400, and it's a Samsung 42" 600hz 720p plasma.

Just found a deal on craigslist for the tv. I keep my old tv, probably just will give it to my mom. Im just worried about warranty issues, and the tv is in chilliwack, so its a far drive for a tv that might be garbage.

FN-2199 03-20-2011 12:28 AM

Which model is it and how old is the TV? Warranty is a huge thing when it comes to these TVs.

Araaadi 03-20-2011 12:29 AM

Lg 42ld520. Its 729.99 at bestbuy. I went in and checked one out today. The tv is apparently brand new without box. He says original plastic is still on it. Not too sure how warranty works with these.

Depends where it's bought, warranty can be transferred over. If it was originall purchased.
Seems like a good deal. That tv is good. Although, the fact that it's 1080 says nothing. It's needs to be calibrated correctly to show proper resolution.
Nonetheless it's worth checking out

make sure to check the tv properly for any issues before handing out the money..

like all the inputs are working, any dead pixels and so on..

I have the same TV,

the 42LD520 is $587 at visions brand new and the price has fluctuated from 799 and 648 at best buy since November.

Araaadi 03-20-2011 10:02 PM

Now, he told me he will also give me a brand new lg 42ld630 for 800 for both.
I don't know if i should pick them both up or not.

Pull your other hand out from your pants. It looks like you need both to type.

!MiKrofT 03-21-2011 10:51 AM

For $400? sure. It's practically disposable at that price. Just check it out make sure it works and doesn't have dead pixels.

Araaadi 03-26-2011 03:09 AM

Picked up both tvs, one broke but the guy exchanged it. Mine is working great. I got an lg 42ld630 instead of the 42ld520.
Sold my old tv for $250. So i pretty much paid $150 for a big upgrade
