Fast food rage: Taco Bell customer ends up in SWAT team shoot-out after objecting to Faced with a price hike, most people would settle for a strongly-worded letter of complaint. But one Taco Bell customer was so enraged after his favourite Beefy Crunch Burrito went up by 50 cents that he allegedly tried to shoot the restaurant's manager. Ricardo Jones, 37, ended up in a four-hour shoot-out with a SWAT team after he allegedly pulled out an airgun, a semi-automatic assault rifle and a pistol at the restaurant in San Antonio, Texas. No-one was hurt in the incident on Sunday afternoon. Police initially said Jones could face three charges of attempted capital murder, but he has instead been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, the San Antonio Express-News reports. A straightforward order turned into a terrifying attack when Jones pulled up at a Taco Bell drive-thru in San Antonio at around 2pm. He ordered seven Beefy Crunch Burritos, but when a female worker told him the price had gone up from 99 cents to $1.49 because a promotion had ended, he flew into a rage, police told the Express-News. Mr Tillerson, 41, told the Express-News: 'He pointed a gun at me, and he fired it. I leaned to the side and there was a pop but nothing happened.' He described the next few minutes as 'pretty crazy'. As he looked through the window, he claims he saw Jones pull another handgun and an assault rifle out of his Mitsubishi Eclipse and put them on the roof. Terrified customers cowered beneath the tables and Mr Tillerson ran to the front to lock the doors as he called 911. Tracked: Police claim Jones fled the restaurant and drove two miles down the road where he had a shoot-out with officers before driving to his motel Tracked: Police claim Jones fled the restaurant and drove two miles down the road where he had a shoot-out with officers before driving to his motel According to the arrest report, when police arrived, the lobby was 'filled with frantic customers and people crying.' But Jones had already jumped into his car and fled, police claim. Officers received a report he was at a Burger King nearby, and they pulled him over just two miles away. As they got out of their cars, they claim Jones pulled out his assault rifle and both sides began firing, the Express-News reports. Neither side was hit, but a police windshield was shattered in the cross-fire. Then the Jones leapt back into his vehicle and sped off towards the Rodeway Inn motel, only a few blocks away. They evacuated nearby businesses and some of the motel rooms, and urged Jones to pick up the phone - but there was no reply. Three hours later the SWAT team finally used tear gas to force Jones out of the room. Jones is being held in Bexar County Jail today. His bail was set at $50,000. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/...34_468x295.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/...36_468x295.jpg Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...#ixzz1HHdVUZH4 |
