| Herman Miller Mirra chair
Does anyone own this chair? Looking for long term reviews. I tried one briefly while at the Herman Miller store and fell in love. Tried the Aeron and Embody chairs, while both are nice I found the Mirra chair the perfect fit for me.
Now does anyone have a hookup to buy one?  |

I had one at work, and have used the Aeron previous to it.
I would say it is not as comfortable as the Aeron. The back rest does not feel as flexible. Overall of course it is a more durable chair. Mine did not forward tilt and would hurt my legs after awhile.
However...I have used the Mirra for about 2.5 years and it feels just as comfortable as day 1. The Aeron, after 1 year was starting to feel slightly "stretched," and if I did not give it away, I would estimate another 3 years before it would need to be replaced.
I'd say try the Embody before deciding. If you account for how long you use the chair per day, the price difference may not be an issue.

u tried the steelcase chairs also? u should give them a go they can give aerons a run for its money

I have the Herman Miller Caper chair. Basically their cheapest office chair, which still cost me over $300 at Costco. Simple design made of some super sturdy plastics (?). The back support is so awesome and it is easy to clean and because it is a hard chair I don't have to worry about it getting worn out or absorbing year after years of farts. I bet you that it will last me forever.
If the cheapest chair they offer is this amazing, I would bet that the rest of their products are worth looking at.

I've sat on Mirra chairs since I started working, they don't hold a handle to the Aeron at all. FYI, the aeron come in different sizes.
They pop up on craigslist from time to time, probably office closures and such. Some of them are a bit older with different features and might not be your size, but that'd be a good place to stalk.

I've used a Mirra chair before at my previous employer at a design studio. You can literally sit on it for 8 hours and when you get up, you feel absolutely great and not tired at all. No other type of office chairs comes close to any Herman Miller chairs. I used it for a year and highly recommend it.

This chair is amazing!
The Hilton I was staying at had it! It was absolutely amazing!
No long term results, but boy was it amazing to sit in.

I also sit on a Aeron at work. Its comfy, but make sure you get the right size.
the back has lumbar support, but personally I don't feel its adjustable enough.

The 3 chairs are suited for different activites:
Aeron - task chair, ie sitting up straight and typing.
Embody - relax chair, ie leaning back on the phone/reading. The back pushes against you only if you push against it. Thus while sitting up typing it doesn't provide much support.
Mirra - between the Aeron and Embody, closer to the Aeron with the lumbar support.
For me it was definitely the Mirra, yet I am a programmer so I spend most of my time sitting up straight coding, with a mix of leaning back and reading.

The Mirra is closer to C (large) size of the Aeron, which I need for my 6'2" 225 lb frame.

I did not see the Steelcase Leap chair offered in mesh, which is a huge selling point for me since our office is kept at 23-24C to appease the many women I work with.

You can control where the seat ends in relation to the backrest cause that part can be curled down, but by not controlling the angle, it doesn't let your back rest on backrest. The aeron can completely adjust this.
On the aeron, the mesh is softer and conforms and supports your body better.
I've always wanted to try the embody, anybody know where I can go shopping for it and try it out?

I have an old (made in 2000) herman miller i can "long term" review since ive used it since 2001.
Minus the horrible design of where the bottom wheel tree meets the shock absorber, this chair still performs as new. no malfunction of any seat adjusters or the actual shock absorbing quality whatsoever.
When i first got the chair in 01, i was skeptical at the longevity of the material used to sit and lean on. Boy was i wrong. Even with my 6'1'' 220 person sitting on it for 10 yrs, no loss of elasticity (even with a cigarette burn in it).
One of my only complaints with older herman miller chairs is that they are HEAVY AS A crate of cinderblocks. Now i don't know if the new designs account for the old models' failiures, but IF THEY DO, definitely a chair to buy.

Any reviews of the Space Air Grid Black Task Chair? Looks alot like the Herman Millers but cheaper. They sell them at Costco.ca
