Need your help! Long story short, some stuff fell off the back of a trailer of a truck I was behind on the highway, and hit my car. I luckily avoided hitting the 2x4's that fell off or else I'd have much bigger problems to worry about, but some plastic apparatus managed to hit my passenger side fender and part of the bumper. No dents fortunately, but there are a number of scuffs. I'm guessing it could come out with a good polish? I'd try to do it myself but I have no idea what I'm doing and the paint is only a couple months old so there's pretty much no scratches on it so far seeing as how I've driven the car a handful of times since the new paint. If any detailing junkies on here can lend a hand in this crappy situation, then it'd be greatly appreciated. Let me know what you want in return for your time and services. http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._5087372_n.jpg |
run your finger along the scratch, general rule is, if it catches your nail, it aint coming out. |
yea depends on how deep the scuffs are, got pictures? |
Not quite sure how to explain it but since it the thing that hit my car was plastic, it appears that the plastic transferred over onto the paint? It's raised where those marks are, and basically added a new layer of stuff onto the paint. |

Any recommendations on which products to use? This is the claybar product I have at home: http://www.valiantspares.com.au/imag...Clay%20Bar.jpg I don't have a polisher, nor do I know anyone with one so I have to do it by hand. I was thinking of buying these pads but not sure if they're going to do more harm than good, lol. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en These are the other products I have available: http://www.detailsupplyonline.com/images/g11816.jpg http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41TJ2tTQ47L.jpg http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41EkzVrgX%2BL.jpg http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/wcs...1_pri_larg.jpg |
if i had to be real honest with you, that looks more clear coat damage than actual things sticking on. If it is indeed this situation, the products you got probably wont even do a thing to it. mothers clay may also be too fine to even pull any of that off (if it is indeed on top of the clear coat) if you go to UBC, im on campus tuesdays and thursdays (till next week) so i could have a look and have some clay + clay lube ready to give a hit otherwise, I could see if a friend (Ken's friend too) that works out of Poco can come and have a look. |
Or you could just come by Saturday and I'll clean it up for you. |
^ that works for you too since Maple Ridge isn't that far from PoCo, its just far for me in Richmond lol |
Disneyland is far from Richmond, Aldric. I am only one hour. |
