Pulling codes for GM's "OBD 1.5" cars

How do you pull codes for GM's stupid not-quite OBD2 cars, selpecifically a '95 Sunfire? I've heard an OBD2 scanner won't read the computer for CEL's.

You need the OBD1 types?

OBD-1 would probably work, considering a Snap-On Solus read the codes from a '92 Bonneville.

95 was the wonky year. OBD I scanner should work no problem. what's wrong with it ? just a random CEL ?

Random CEL pops on and off. Just trying to diagnose what it's for. Haven't been able to determine what's wrong with conventional methods.

if it.s a 2.2, oxygen sensors are prone to failure.

Like I said though ... an OBD I reader should work.

could you try using a GM Tech 2 scan tool?

I would if I had one. Same with an OBD1 scanner. I have an OBD2 scanner for my car, but because all of my previous cars were either super easy to determine what was wrong with them or had their own on-board jumper setup for diagnosing issues, I never bothered buying a scanner for the OBD1 systems.

So... anyone have either an OBD1 or GM Tech 2 scanner they would like to lend me? :D

If it has an obd2 port, an obd2 scanner will work. It will have same amount of info as an obd1 computer but with the connection of an obd2.

What's wrong with jumpng the terminals and reading the codes the "old fashioned way"?
