Found my dad's old Minolta Film Camera I plan on playing around with this thing. Looks like fun! It's an SRT 3036 with MD Rokkor 1:1.4 f=50mm MC W.Rokkor 1:2.8 f=35mm Vivitar 1:3.8 85-205mm I have no idea how to use it though... hehe. Just a question - if I want to use any of these lenses on my Canon 40D - I think there ARE adaptors I can buy.... I read somewhere I might lose my infinity focus, but what are some of the other disadvantages? I probably lose focus confirm as well right? |
could it be the 303b? I couldn't find it on this page (awesome site for old camera manuals btw) only disadvantage i can think of is how difficult it is to focus in the viewfinder of a crop body. live view works very well, but it just doesn't feel the same as using that focus screen in ur film camera or on a FF body. this is just my experience though, some ppl can mf tack on in the viewfinder on a crop. i think your options are: 1) an adapter with glass (which you can remove for macro photography) 2) someone modify them permanently ($$$) i wish my dad played with photography cameras instead of video cameras haha |
The difference in flange distance is -.5mm from Minolta to EOS, its not possible to achieve infinity with a normal adapter. You also have to be careful when you leave it at infinity on the lens cuz the mirror might hit the glass. Unlike my NEX which has 3cm difference in flange distance. :P The Minolta 50s are awesome though. :) |
oops, it's the 303b hahaha, i can't read apparently. sweet, thanks for the tips guys. it really is the 50 I'm after! should be interesting. I see some weird spiderwebing in the lens - it seems to be on the front element - looks like tiny cracks in the glass. Is that fungus growing? |
Yeah, could be fungus. |
Ya, I looked at some pictures online - and it's definitely fungus. it's got a bit on the 50, but the 85-205 has a big giant patch in the middle, looks pretty gross... You guys reckon it'll be worth it to get it cleaned, or even bother to try to take them apart myself....? |
You can't clean them - it's permanent. Posted via RS Mobile |
