easy listening?

i need to make a new cd for the car,

my girl likes songs like:

norah - don't know why
dido - white flag

what other songs or artists that are kinda like that style,

i think its a "easy listening" genre?

thanks in advance, you guys

I don't really know if this is what your looking for since it's such a different genre. I play a lot of live poker and my Ipod is my best friend when I do. Bob Seger is one my favorites for chill music. Again, not really same genre as Norah Jones and Dido but it's Chill.

Maybe Merril Bainbridge, Sheryl Crow, Lisa Loeb, Jewel might be more of what your looking for?

Anyway, my favorite Bob Seger song.

Bob Seger is dope. Awesome song

This is the most mellow stuff I've run into in a while. His voice is so "nice".

boss_clad 04-09-2011 07:25 AM

anything with great piano or violin would be great as well

you guys should download some yiruma

Some great "mellow rock" artists:
Bruce Hornsby & The Range (nice piano work)
Christopher Cross
Dan Fogelberg
Dan Hill kinda fits the description, but don't be surprised if you want to slit your wrists after listening to his stuff.

The ultimate voice: Anne Murray

More into the "Jazz" range, but Michael Buble is good.

More instrumental/new-age style, check out Jean Michel Jarre.

Mike Oldfield crosses easy listening/new age genres and has a VERY wide body of brilliant work. "Songs Of Distant Earth" is a great chill CD.

Use GENIUS on Itunes. It will match up other songs of that style and even recommend some similar ones to check out.

If you have a US proxy or VPN, you can also check out www.pandora.com - same kind of idea, you build a playlist, and it will make other suggestions based on your selections. Used to be available in Canada, but not anymore.

Even better than pandora, IMO, is GrooveShark and its Radio feature. It's free, has a better interface, and is available in Canada without a proxy. Once I found out about it, I dropped pandora.

Else, SomaFM (Groove Salad channel for super mellow joints) and StereoMood (playlists based on moods) are other great sites to break the monotony.

Soundy 04-09-2011 02:57 PM

Soma.FM has some great channels, too... they have one that's all cover songs :)

Not much good in the car, unless you have a smartphone with a good data plan and you plug your phone into your stereo... but all these are good places to get ideas and maybe find some new artists.
