Cheap and fun,

get the 05-08 Corolla XRS - 6 speed manual. Has like 2.4L(i think)170HP.

Plus its cheap on gas

170hp, yes.
2.4L, no.

those Corolla XRS' had the 1.8L 2ZZGE engine from the Celica GTS. about 10hp short from the Celica. fun to drive, but I don't know if they're great on gas.

CSX is pretty fun with a slight detuned K20 motor (comparing to type-s/si). Mine gets 500km with $60 fill up.
