After seeing all the videos, hearing that engine and realising how rare the LFA actually is, if I had the money yes I WOULD.

I'd get 2! One to keep in the garage, and one to drive until my balls fall off.

You really think lexus would release a car that wasn't quiet driving around town? Your not gonna hear it unless it's floored.

I'm loving this car and all, but let's say you saved enough for one super car...I'm not sure this would be it for me.

sick car

Roach 04-13-2011 06:56 AM

The car is $430k Cdn.

And at that price... there are a lot of options. Toyota/Lexus can obviously build a crazy engine but every Toyota/Lexus I've ever had (and I realize the LFA is not going to be the same) has been a vast second to its german counterparts in the true "driving experience"... ie Lexus IS F vs Audi RS4... I'll have the RS4 every day please, and the E90 M3 is even better yet (wasnt out at the time).

For $450k cdn I definitely wouldnt buy an LFA despite it's amazing sound... my money would definitely be spent on something Italian... I'd try and test drive the Murcielago but I'd bet my money would be spent on an F-Car, probably a 458. The LFA is too much like a GTR in my opinion - technically brilliant, technologically advanced, brutally afst, but not enough time spent on the actual driving dynamics.

The LFA is an exclusivity at the moment. People will justify its price in order to stand out in a sea of Ferrari's and Lamborghini's.

Mark, maybe a first or second year IS-F I would not take over a RS4, but the revised ones with the suspension tweaks, I would get that rather than the RS4 and I'm a big Audi fan. The issues surrounding the motor on the RS4 are more than enough to dissuade me from ever looking at one and in fact, I would rather have a 2010 S4 with sport diff over a 2007 RS4. The RS4 sounds awesome when they work though.

Lexus was smart in limiting the numbers to 500 cars because at this price point, the target client is going to look from something rarely seen on the road and they probably already have a F-car in the garage.

Good point, in all fairness, I only had a few hours in an IS F and it was an 08. However, with that said, I am a BMW guy through and through... we have a pretty good selection of these cars come through our dealership and I just cant get excited about the Japanese product in the same way, and I realize it's just an intensely personal decision.

We had a 2010 Audi S5 cab with only 1000kms in a few months back and I cant even describe how let down I was by that car - the powerplant was awesome, the interior finishing was really top notch, there was really nothing to fault it with but at the end of the day, I just couldnt get excited by the feel of that car. On the flipside, we have an 09 M3 cab now and I simply cant stop grinning every time I drive it! At some level when you are spending the kind of money that these cars are, they just have to grab you, I cant seem to get excited... although I suppose some seat time in an R8 V10 might change that!
