'healthy' recipes clearly everyone has different ideas of what health food is, but lets keep this thread mostly clean. anyone have any good healthy recipes? if it tastes 'too healthy' then i probably dont want to eat it. heres one i've recently become addicted to: stir-fry lettuce wraps recipe (the way i make it): -dice some meat or use mince (pork or chicken), season and lightly brown the meat with some coconut oil in a non stick skillet then drain and put the meat aside -lightly fry onions, then after 1m add ginger/garlic -add julienned/diced zucchini, carrots, celery, mushrooms, water chesnuts and season -add a touch of soy sauce, sherry vinegar, sesame oil, oyster sauce -cook down till most of the liquid evaporates/absorbs -wash some head lettuce or bibb -put a spoonful of stirfry onto lettuce, a touch of sriracha or hoisin, and enjoy! its an extremely versatile recipe and you really cant screw it up. proportions arent terribly important and you can add/substitute: bell peppers, eggplant, cashews, crispy noodles, wonton skins, etc... total carb content is extremely low and its a super satisfying meal. you'd be surprised how fast you can eat a whole head of lettuce. i usually split it over 2 meals and eat an entire head of lettuce. lets hear yours :woot2: |
I make a Quinoa salad that's probably the healthiest thing that I eat. Quinoa cooks much like rice, I usually make a big batch at the beginning of the week and add it liberally to various meals through out the week. I like to make the salad the second day after it's been in the fridge over night. I throw in pretty much every veggie I have in the house (it's really good with peas, red bell pepper and cherry tomatoes), and make my own salad dressing with balsamic vinegar, mustard, a bit of garlic and olive oil. Serve with salmon. It makes SUCH a nice light, and refreshing meal on a summer day. |
