Nokia E6 (e71,72 successor) and also the X7

I've always been a fan of the Es and this new one gets a much needed OS update the E6 and X7 sport the pr2.0 update, now dubbed ANNA, which includes 50+ improvements(browser flash 10 etc) and icons
http://europe.nokia.com/search?qt=E6-00

31 Day Standby time 1500mah battery
326ppi (pixel density)
LCD
its Touch & Type

Nokia is still the leading business smartphone maker worldwide, yes more than blackberry (44% market share BB 39%)

The internals aside from the camera are the same as the N8 but the UI is slightly different, adjusted for the screen orientation/size

The X7 which we've seen leaked for quite some time now, originally slated for AT&T during the Superbowl but it was dropped, and the phone wasnt released until now until nokia could get the updates and quirks worked out

not too excited for the phone but since it was announced @ the same time i figured id post it too

4" screen same internals etc

This is good news. I was hoping for the new generation of E series phones to replace my E71. I think the E6 is slated on my upgrade list. :)

Razor Ramon HG 04-14-2011 01:09 AM

Time to sell my Blackberry when this comes out :lol

StylinRed 04-15-2011 07:24 AM

The only thing im a little disgruntled about is that it sounds like that the Multiscanner feature is no more

you know the scanner feature found in the E72? where you could take a photo of documents and instead of a picture you actually got an editable txt document?

sounds like with the EDOF camera that feature wont work its not available on sym^3 so far either

gilly 04-15-2011 11:37 AM

e6 is going to be my next phone

t8v6 04-15-2011 12:45 PM

wow nokia never fails to impress with their hardware design. too bad they're still using symbian :(
hopefully everything will change with win7phone

StylinRed 04-15-2011 03:05 PM

^^^ Symbians great

sadly all the cool things either don't get advertised (technical hardware, etc)or dont come pre-installed and you either have to know about them and go download (Bubbles, Situations, Big Screen, Sleeping Screen, Bots, Drop) or you're also stuck waiting for cool features to be implemented (new UI, etc)

but rumor has it that there's going to be an N8 Variant (The W8) that comes with WP7 and an X7 (pictured above) Variant (the W7)

moomooCow 04-20-2011 04:19 AM

Wow that actually looks like a great upgrade from my E71 now~~ I'm just wondering if it's a good idea to buy any phones running Symbian since they're going to stop developing it...

What else is similar on the market right now? I love my E71 =( but it's crapping out on me.

StylinRed 04-20-2011 08:56 AM

^^^ well Nokia has confirmed that support for Symbian devices will still continue well into 2014 and likely beyond as long as they're selling them

Elop really fucked up with the retarded comments he made; Nokia has been on damage control ever since

moomooCow 04-20-2011 02:46 PM

Ah thanks, I just went to google and it appears you're right! Man that guy really did fuck shit up lol...

StylinRed 04-21-2011 05:01 PM

eh here's some examples of the E6s camera

they're internal Nokia photos off of prototype units not sure if they've been edited or not (im guessing no)

chin3se604 04-21-2011 05:32 PM

sweet... i own a E71 and i love the design

StylinRed 06-30-2011 09:25 PM

Haven't had an update on this in awhile but here's one

there've been other reviews (most with thick accents/hard to understand) but here's a recent one from the uk

Here's the conclusion though since its a long one

Conclusion

http://mynokiablog.com/wp-content/up...43-600x399.jpg

I’ve never used portrait QWERTY phones for any acceptable length of time and have never found a reason for doing so. BUT I’m a convert to the long list of fans that love the portrait QWERTY form-factor. My experience with the E6-00 has been hugely positive. I would have loved a bit more time to just write down my thoughts and experiences, do a video demo or two but ah well.

What’s been great?

Keyboard. It just begs to be typed on and your thumbs love you for it. It is wonderfully crafted and you’ll get a buzz every time you know you’ll need to use it. The keyboard shortcuts offer a unique efficiency that you can’t get with just touch.
Battery life: A smartphone that I don’t fear not charging daily? Quite a new feeling that I can use it as much as I like and not be in search for the nearest plug socket.
Build and Design: It’s a pocket tank. It’s so solidly made and feels great in the hand. It looks great too, it looks like it means business but it’s stunning to look at too. It’s a classy, stunning looking phone.
There’s a loooooot that I didn’t go through such as music and video playback, mass storage, USB OTG etc. Pretty much every strength of Symbian^3 still lives on in the E6-00
All of the above together combine for what I found to be a surprisingly satisfying, nay, fantastic experience with the E6.

What I’d improve:

Screen size: it is a little on the small end. OK for those used to the E71/E72 but does make some parts of the phone a little hard to see.
The camera: It just doesn’t offer the versatility I need or have come to expect (though expectations are supremely high due to the Nokia N8). It’s actually decent if you compare it to Non-Nokias
App Support: Though it is Symbian^3 and it is powered underneath with the same stuff the other S^3 handsets have, due to the screen ratio, some apps don’t quite work (and so aren’t even on Ovi Store)

GSM Arenas review of the E6

http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_e6_00-review-616.php

its long so just the link for ye

Something to note GSMArena says that the E6s screen is the brightest screen ever tested by them to date(very recently the X7 was the brightest amoled and then the LG Optimus Black was the brightest overall)

and gsmarena says the E6 has higher pixel density then the IP4
