Make them all retake their class 5.. Guarantee you they will get the same percentage of fails if not more.

Riddle 04-14-2011 03:43 PM

Wat an interesting combo.. fail drivers on fail taxis :S

You mean class 4 license.

Class 5 license holders cannot operate taxis.

Edit: unless I'm wrong then feel free to correct me.

No i think your right.. But hey, shouldnt the class 5 be easier than class 4. If they cant pass class 5 again what are the chances of passing a class 4... :)

It's not the rebuilt taxis or incompetent drivers I'm worried about, it's the commercial trucks that would never pass a safety inspection being driven by even more FOB drivers.

deep87 04-14-2011 04:01 PM

commercial trucks do have pretty rigorous testing fyi.
With the spot light on EI's in some threads lately all i can say is: "They're on to us.."

Dragon-88 04-14-2011 07:47 PM

I bet ya that the 20% that passed are the new hybrids on the road..

marc0lishuz 04-14-2011 08:24 PM

Saw the news earlier tonight. Something like 55 taxis were inspected and only 8 passed. The rest were either condemned or ticketed for repairs/modifications.

I was expecting: "racism!" :fullofwin:

ilvtofu 04-14-2011 08:31 PM

Kinda off topic but are most of the taxis from the states? The 2 times I've taken a cab in Vancouver were both U.S. cars with MPH speedometers, I guess every dollar they save helps

death_blossom 04-14-2011 11:49 PM

so they only inspected taxis that have a rebuild status? I bet if they inspected a hundred "clean title" taxis, they would also fail the VI process. it's no secret that cab owners don't care about the upkeep of their vehicles.

I hate some taxi drivers.

I once got cut off by a taxi before it quickly turned on its emergency light and made a quick stop right in front of me for the passengers to get off.

I was driving on the inside lane, and there was a no stopping/parking sign on the street too.

Thanks for the reminder. I have to get my physical done.

FerrariEnzo 04-15-2011 08:20 AM

i think c-lais need it more this then Taxi drivers...

MindBomber 04-15-2011 10:59 AM

I drive a commercial truck, if you don't drive past the 160th scale between 7am-3pm then you could get away with a truck held together by duct tape for years.

need what? the thread's about taxi's being in poor shape not the drivers.

baggdis300 04-15-2011 11:46 AM

lol, this reminded me of the time i went to pay my shop after fixing my car...

they had a donor taxi rear of a prius with a normal prius with major rear end damage.

did i mention the donor car was already cut out?

zulutango 04-15-2011 04:12 PM

What I'm surprised about is that 20% did NOT fail the inspections. :speechless:

baggdis300 04-15-2011 04:23 PM

there are reputable shops that do good work, like the one i took my car to. the guy does excellent work and is a ICBC accredited shop.

But if you keep your truck in good shape you will drive right through the inspections too.
