Driver Risk Premium.

Fuck this stupid program.

Explain me this

http://www.icbc.com/driver-licensing...s/risk-premium

Beginning in January 2009, DRP takes effect.

Each year just prior to your assessment date (which is usually your date of birth) we review your driving record for offences in the previous three years. The DRP program only counts the offences that occurred on or after Jan. 1, 2008.

So they introduce a program that takes effect in 2009, and looks at offenses from 2008.

I never paid it once, until this year, after 2 years of clean driving, I was hit with a 320 dollar fine for a excessive speeding ticket (I was going 80 on granville at 4 am). Should have debated it though, the speedlimit on granville is 60.

The best part is, it runs in conjunction with DPP, but you only pay the one whichever one is larger.

waiting for a court day for my excessive ... i take it you've already paid yours? "should have debated it"

This was in 08. Enjoy the 1000 dollar Driver Risk Premium Fine.

ICBC needs to burn.

An excessive speeding ticket for 41-60k over the limit is $368. They must have said you were doing more than 101 in the 60. Can't imagine how you got a $320 ticket for 20 over when that is not the fine for 20 over. That is $196. Are we missing something here?

Meowjin 04-14-2011 08:00 PM

Nothing. Although you are assuming that every officer has never made a mistake in the history of policing.

Granville St is 60, not 50 since when?

Qmx323 04-14-2011 08:17 PM

might be granville in richmond which is 50

Meowjin 04-14-2011 08:20 PM

it is 60?

There was no way I was going over 80. 90 max. I should have disputed it but the cop was being a dick and saying if i challenged it that he would slap a fine on me for not signalling (wtf why would I change lanes if I was the only one on the road?) and not displaying my N.

flagella 04-14-2011 08:22 PM

You really should've disputed it.

van_driver 04-14-2011 08:40 PM

granville bridge is 60

Further to that, ICBC rejects tickets that don't have the proper fine amount for the charge section. If it had $320 written for excessive speed, ICBC should have punted the ticket.

It would be more a matter of policy than choice.

Exactly. I have had tickets punted back before, when fine amount changes come in and I put in the old amount by mistake.
